BMW X5 F15 and X6 F16 NBT 12.3 inch Android Head Unit with Wireless CarPlay, Android Auto and 4G | QGBS25NB12X5N

This unit is for the X5 F15 and X6 F16 (2014-2017) with the NBT system. NBT cars usually have a 6-pin LVDS port, a media button on the iDrive controller and a touch pad controller.

If your car has CIC, the XTRONS QGBS25CIB12X5L (left-hand drive) or QGBS25CIB12X5R (right-hand drive) is the one to choose, and EVO cars need the QGBS25EVB12X5N. If the iDrive has been modified or updated, check your VIN with a dealer to be sure.

The CD player, radio and iDrive system all stay in use after fitting.

The 12.3 inch IPS panel runs at 2400 x 900 and is fully laminated with a G+G touch layer, so there's no air gap behind the glass. Colours stay accurate from the passenger seat as well as the driver's.

The wide shape suits a map on one side and music controls on the other.

CarPlay connects to your iPhone without a cable, so maps, music and messages appear on the big screen while the phone stays in your pocket.

Full-featured Android Auto puts Google Maps, music apps and calls on the 12.3 inch screen with controls sized for use on the move.

The unit has its own 4G LTE connection, so music streaming and live navigation work without tethering your phone. You can also share the connection with passengers. A 4G antenna is in the box.

Wi-Fi works on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, for browsing, streaming and online apps when you're near a network or using a hotspot.

Navigation runs on the unit itself, with a GPS antenna in the box. With 4G connected, navigation runs with live online data and the car's position can be tracked remotely.

Android 14 runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 octa-core processor at up to 2.0GHz, with 6GB LPDDR4 RAM and 64GB UFS ROM. That leaves room for plenty of apps and keeps switching between them quick.

A microphone cable is in the box for hands-free calls. For clearer voice quality, an XTRONS MIC001, MIC002, MIC003 or ACMIC005 external microphone can be added.

DAB digital radio works with an external XTRONS DAB+ tuner: the USBDAB01, USBDAB02, USBDAB04, ACUSBDAB05T or ACUSBDAB06.

You can add a reversing camera such as the XTRONS CAM005, CAM018, CAM009S (AHD 720P), ACCAM716S (AHD 1080P), CAM1080 (AHD 1080P) or ACCAM10802 (AHD 1080P). The picture appears on the big screen to help you judge the space behind.

The unit also works with XTRONS dash cams (DVR025S, DVR027S, DVR028S, DVR030S and ACDVR2K01) for recording your journeys, OBD2 scanners (OBD01S, OBD02, OBD03 and OBD04) for reading live data and fault codes, and TPMS kits (TPMS08) that show tyre pressures on the screen.
