The XTRONS QTB10NBTH is a 10.25 inch Android screen for BMW 1, 2, 3 and 4 Series, M3 and M4 models that left the factory with the NBT or NBT EVO ID4 iDrive system. It adds wireless CarPlay, Android Auto and dual-band Wi-Fi while keeping the iDrive controller, factory amplifier, original radio and steering wheel controls working.
This unit only works with BMWs that have the original NBT or NBT EVO ID4 iDrive system. Those systems usually have a 6 PIN LVDS port and a navigation map version that starts NBT_ or NBTevo_A. Cars with CIC, EVO ID5 or EVO ID6 need a different unit.
The factory features stay in use: the iDrive controller, the amplifier, the original CD player and radio, the original Bluetooth, the backup camera display and the steering wheel controls.
Two plastic brackets are included so the screen fits a wider range of these BMWs. Check your model and whether your car is left or right-hand drive before ordering, as several of the listed models are for left-hand drive cars only.
CarPlay connects to your iPhone without a cable, so the phone can stay in a pocket or a cupholder. Maps, music, messages and calls appear on the 10.25 inch screen.
It's handy on short trips too, as there's no lead to plug in every time you get in the car.
Android Auto works wirelessly or over a cable, so you can pick whichever suits your phone. Google Maps, your music apps and messages appear on the big screen with large, easy-to-tap controls.
The 10.25 inch IPS screen runs at 1920 x 720 and has a G+G touch panel. IPS keeps colours consistent from wide angles, so the passenger sees the same picture as the driver.
The interface has day and night modes that can follow the car's lights or be switched by hand, and there are factory-style themes if you want the screen to look like the original BMW display.
The unit connects to 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi networks, for example a phone hotspot. The 5GHz band suits streaming video while the map runs alongside it.
Bluetooth 5.0 handles hands-free calls and streaming music from your phone. Your car's original Bluetooth also stays available.
The unit supports AHD cameras up to 1080P, at the front and the rear. When you reverse, the live picture shows on the screen.
The car's own backup camera display is kept too.
Two apps can sit side by side, so the map stays in view while you change the music or check something else.
Screen mirroring shows your phone's screen on the head unit without a cable. Passengers can share videos or games on the bigger display while parked or on a long journey.
The original steering wheel buttons keep working, so you can change the volume and track without reaching for the screen.
DAB digital radio works when you connect an external DAB tuner to the unit. The original radio also stays available through the factory system.
A USB cable is in the box. It gives you a wired connection for Android Auto when you'd rather plug the phone in.
The unit has microphone support for hands-free calls and voice control, so you can talk to callers or your phone's assistant without picking up the handset.

The unit plugs into the car with the ISO wiring harness and audio cable in the box, and two plastic brackets help it fit across the range. Sound goes through the car's AUX input, so AUX must be present, working and switched on. If your car has no working AUX input you'll need an FM transmitter such as the XTRONS CA/ITR/FM02. If you're unsure which iDrive system your car has, a BMW dealer or specialist can confirm it from your VIN or head unit part number.
NBT and NBT EVO ID4 systems usually have a 6 PIN LVDS port and a navigation map version starting NBT_ or NBTevo_A. You can check the map version under Navigation, Options, Settings, Position & Version History. If the system may have been upgraded or retrofitted, ask a BMW dealer to check your VIN.
No. It only works with the original NBT and NBT EVO ID4 systems. CIC cars have a 4-pin LVDS port and a CD button on the iDrive controller, and EVO ID5 and ID6 cars have a map version of NBTevo_H or later.
Yes. The iDrive system, factory amplifier, original CD player and radio, original Bluetooth, backup camera display and steering wheel controls are all kept.
The unit sends its sound through the car's AUX input. If your car has no AUX input or it doesn't work, you'll need an FM transmitter such as the XTRONS CA/ITR/FM02.
Yes, Android Auto works wirelessly or with a cable. CarPlay connects wirelessly.
