XTRONS QGBS25NB12X1N is a 12.3″ Android screen for the BMW X1 F48 with the NBT system. It sits alongside the original system, so you keep the CD player, radio and iDrive while gaining CarPlay, Android Auto and 4G.
The screen is made for X1 models that already have the NBT system. Android runs next to the original software rather than replacing it, so the CD player, radio and iDrive carry on as before.
You switch between the BMW menus and Android on the same 12.3″ screen, and the touch screen sits where the factory display was.
CarPlay is built in and connects without a cable, so your iPhone can stay in a pocket or bag. Maps, music and calls appear on the wide screen and Siri handles voice requests.
Your iPhone connects on its own when you start the car, so there's no cable to plug in. It needs an iPhone with wireless CarPlay support; check yours in Settings > General > CarPlay. A cable still works when you'd rather charge on the way.
Android Auto puts Google Maps, music apps and calls on the screen. You can control it by voice, which keeps your eyes on the road.
Maps, calls, messages and music from your Android phone appear on the car screen, with Google Assistant for voice control. It needs a phone with Google services, which most Android phones have. To connect without a cable, the phone must support wireless Android Auto too.
The 12.3″ screen is a fully laminated IPS panel with a QHD 2K (2400 x 900) resolution. Colour is rich and accurate, and the picture stays clear when seen from the passenger seat.
G+G touch glass gives a firm, responsive feel when you tap or swipe.
With a SIM in the unit, 4G gives it its own connection for music streaming and real-time GPS navigation. You can also share the internet connection with passengers.
A 4G antenna comes in the box.
A SIM card in the head unit gives it its own internet connection for maps, traffic and streaming, so it doesn't need your phone's hotspot. You supply the SIM and the data plan; a data-only SIM is usually the cheapest way to do it.
Wi-Fi works on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. Join your phone's hotspot or home network for faster downloads and smoother streaming.
Digital radio needs an external DAB+ tuner, such as USBDAB01, USBDAB02, USBDAB04, ACUSBDAB05T or ACUSBDAB06. A tuner gives a stronger signal and a wider choice of stations.
Digital radio gives clearer sound and more stations than FM where there's DAB coverage. It needs a DAB aerial: a stick-on windscreen aerial is the usual choice, or a splitter if your car already has a combined FM and DAB aerial.
You can add a reversing camera such as CAM005, CAM018, CAM009S (AHD 720P), ACCAM716S, CAM1080 or ACCAM10802 (AHD 1080P) to see behind the car on the screen when parking.
Connect a reversing camera and its picture appears on the screen when you select reverse. Automatic switching needs the reverse signal wired in. If your car already has a factory camera, check whether you need an adapter to keep it.
An external DVR records your journey. Compatible models include DVR025S, DVR027S, DVR028S, DVR030S and ACDVR2K01.
Recordings from a dash cam show on the car screen, live or played back. It needs a USB dash cam made for Android head units; an ordinary dash cam with its own screen won't connect this way. Mount the camera behind the mirror, clear of your view.
With an OBD2 scanner such as OBD01S, OBD02, OBD03 or OBD04, the screen shows real-time data and trouble codes from the car's computer, so you can spot a problem early.
Plug an OBD2 adapter into the car's diagnostic port and the head unit can show live engine data, such as coolant temperature, and read fault codes. It reads the standard engine codes, not everything a dealer's diagnostic equipment can reach.
Fit TPMS08 sensors to the wheels and tyre pressures show on the head unit in real time.
The head unit shows each tyre's pressure and warns you when one drops. It needs a TPMS kit: a receiver and a sensor for each wheel. Cap sensors screw on in minutes, while internal sensors are fitted by a tyre shop.

The unit connects through the supplied ISO wiring harness and plays its sound through the car's AUX input, so AUX needs to be enabled. If your car has no AUX input or it doesn't work, you'll need an FM transmitter such as CA/ITR/FM02. Check your system by VIN or with your dealer, as modified or updated menus can make NBT, CIC and EVO hard to tell apart.
An NBT radio usually has a 6-pin LVDS port, an NBT interface, a media button on the iDrive controller and a touch pad controller. A VIN check or your dealer can confirm it.
For CIC, choose QGBS25CIB12X1. For EVO, choose QGBS25EVB12X1N.
Yes. The CD player, radio and iDrive keep working alongside Android.
Sound runs through AUX, so without a working AUX input you'll need an FM transmitter such as CA/ITR/FM02.
