XTRONS QGB24UMB12X1 is a 12.3″ 2K Android 14 screen for the BMW X1 E84 (2009-2015) that left the factory without a display. It works with the original BMW stereo and adds wireless CarPlay, Android Auto, navigation and 4G.
Many X1 E84 cars were built with no display in the dash. This unit adds a 12.3″ touch screen that works with the original BMW stereo, and a controller is supplied in the box.
It only works with the original stereo on cars with no original display. If your X1 has CCC, look at QGB24CCB12X1; with CIC, QGB24CIB12X1.
CarPlay connects without a cable, so your iPhone can stay in your pocket. Maps, calls and music appear on the screen and Siri handles voice requests.
Your iPhone connects on its own when you start the car, so there's no cable to plug in. It needs an iPhone with wireless CarPlay support; check yours in Settings > General > CarPlay. A cable still works when you'd rather charge on the way.
Android phones connect wirelessly for Google Maps, music and calls on the big screen, with Google Assistant for voice control.
Maps, calls, messages and music from your Android phone appear on the car screen, with Google Assistant for voice control. It needs a phone with Google services, which most Android phones have. To connect without a cable, the phone must support wireless Android Auto too.
The fully laminated IPS panel runs at QHD 2K (2400 x 900) with rich, accurate colour, and it stays clear from the passenger seat. The G+G touch glass responds quickly.
Fit a SIM and the unit has its own 4G connection for music streaming and real-time GPS navigation, which you can share with passengers.
It covers a wide range of FDD-LTE, TDD-LTD and WCDMA bands. A 4G antenna is included.
A SIM card in the head unit gives it its own internet connection for maps, traffic and streaming, so it doesn't need your phone's hotspot. You supply the SIM and the data plan; a data-only SIM is usually the cheapest way to do it.
Wi-Fi supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, so the screen can join a hotspot or home network for downloads and streaming.
Add an external DAB+ tuner, such as USBDAB01, USBDAB02, USBDAB04, ACUSBDAB05T or ACUSBDAB06, for digital radio.
Digital radio gives clearer sound and more stations than FM where there's DAB coverage. It needs a DAB aerial: a stick-on windscreen aerial is the usual choice, or a splitter if your car already has a combined FM and DAB aerial.
A reversing camera such as CAM005, CAM018, CAM009S (AHD 720P), or ACCAM716S, CAM1080, ACCAM10802 or ACCAMAI01 (AHD 1080P) shows the view behind on the screen.
Connect a reversing camera and its picture appears on the screen when you select reverse. Automatic switching needs the reverse signal wired in. If your car already has a factory camera, check whether you need an adapter to keep it.
Add an external DVR to record your journeys. DVR025S, DVR027S, DVR028S, DVR030S, ACDVR2K01 and ACWIFIDVR02 are compatible.
Recordings from a dash cam show on the car screen, live or played back. It needs a USB dash cam made for Android head units; an ordinary dash cam with its own screen won't connect this way. Mount the camera behind the mirror, clear of your view.
An OBD2 scanner such as OBD01S, OBD02, OBD03 or OBD04 shows real-time data and trouble codes from the car's computer.
Plug an OBD2 adapter into the car's diagnostic port and the head unit can show live engine data, such as coolant temperature, and read fault codes. It reads the standard engine codes, not everything a dealer's diagnostic equipment can reach.
TPMS08 sensors on the wheels show tyre pressures on the head unit in real time.
The head unit shows each tyre's pressure and warns you when one drops. It needs a TPMS kit: a receiver and a sensor for each wheel. Cap sensors screw on in minutes, while internal sensors are fitted by a tyre shop.
A 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 680, built on 6nm and reaching up to 2.4GHz, runs Android 14 with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. Several apps can run together without slowing down.
