An 11.4 inch Android 14 head unit made as a plug-and-play replacement for the factory display in the Land Rover Defender (2020-2024). It keeps the original controls and adds wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, built-in 4G and a curved QLED touchscreen.
This unit is designed for the Land Rover Defender from 2020 to 2024. It replaces the factory display directly, uses the factory connectors and keeps all the original controls and functions.
It runs Android 14 on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 (11nm, Kryo 260) with 8GB LPDDR4 RAM and 128GB UFS 2.2 storage, so there's plenty of room for maps and apps and it responds quickly.
Your iPhone connects to CarPlay without a cable. Maps, calls and music come up on the 11.4 inch screen, and voice control lets you ask for directions or a song while you drive.
Your iPhone connects on its own when you start the car, so there's no cable to plug in. It needs an iPhone with wireless CarPlay support; check yours in Settings > General > CarPlay. A cable still works when you'd rather charge on the way.
Android Auto works wirelessly or with a cable. Google Maps and your music apps appear in a simple layout, and voice control handles navigation, calls and music.
Maps, calls, messages and music from your Android phone appear on the car screen, with Google Assistant for voice control. It needs a phone with Google services, which most Android phones have. To connect without a cable, the phone must support wireless Android Auto too.
The curved QLED touchscreen has a 1920x1080P resolution. Colours look natural and maps are sharp, even when the cab is bright.
It's an IPS panel and fully laminated, which reduces light refraction between the glass and the display. The picture stays clear from the passenger seat as well as the driver's.
Built-in 4G LTE gives the unit its own data connection with a SIM card, supporting European and Asian carriers. Live maps and streaming keep working without tethering to your phone. A 4G antenna is in the box.
A SIM card in the head unit gives it its own internet connection for maps, traffic and streaming, so it doesn't need your phone's hotspot. You supply the SIM and the data plan; a data-only SIM is usually the cheapest way to do it.
Dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz and 5GHz) connects the unit to a hotspot or your home network for updates and app downloads.
A built-in DSP lets you adjust how the sound is processed, so you can tune the audio to suit the cabin and your taste.
The sound processor lets you tune the sound to your car: an equaliser, a delay for each speaker so the sound centres on your seat, and crossovers that keep deep bass away from small speakers. Start from a preset and change one setting at a time.
Screen mirroring shows your phone's display on the head unit, useful for apps that don't run in CarPlay or Android Auto. Use it when parked or let a passenger take over.
Mirroring shows your phone's whole screen on the car screen, unlike CarPlay and Android Auto, which show apps designed for driving. It usually needs a companion app on the phone, and paid video streaming apps often block it.
A USB cable adapter is supplied for connecting a phone or USB storage to the unit.
DAB+ is supported with an XTRONS USB tuner such as the USBDAB01, USBDAB02, USBDAB04, ACUSBDAB05T or ACUSBDAB06 (sold separately).
Digital radio gives clearer sound and more stations than FM where there's DAB coverage. It needs a DAB aerial: a stick-on windscreen aerial is the usual choice, or a splitter if your car already has a combined FM and DAB aerial.
The system supports 360° surround view cameras and reversing cameras, and it's designed to work with factory and aftermarket accessories. XTRONS cameras such as the CAM1080, ACCAM10802 and ACCAMAI01 are compatible.
It also supports dash cams (DVR025S to DVR030S, ACDVR2K01), OBD readers (OBD01S to OBD04) and TPMS sensors (TPMS07 or TPMS08), each sold separately.
Connect a reversing camera and its picture appears on the screen when you select reverse. Automatic switching needs the reverse signal wired in. If your car already has a factory camera, check whether you need an adapter to keep it.
