The XTRONS QWBX24CIB12X5R is a 12.3 inch Android 14 head unit for right-hand drive BMW X5 E70 and X6 E71 models with the original CIC system. It brings wireless CarPlay, Android Auto, built-in 4G and a large laminated IPS screen to the dashboard.
CarPlay connects to your iPhone without a cable, so navigation, messages and music come up on the 12.3 inch screen as soon as you set off.
The phone can stay in your pocket, which keeps the console clear on short journeys.
Android phones get full-featured Android Auto. Google Maps, calls and your music apps appear on the head unit and are controlled from the touchscreen.
It keeps the things you need while driving on one screen, without picking up the phone.
The QHD 2K IPS screen is fully laminated, which reduces reflections and keeps the picture sharp. IPS panels hold their colour from an angle, so the passenger sees it clearly too.
The touch screen is wide enough to show a map with plenty of road ahead.
A 4G module is built in and a 4G antenna is included. With a data SIM in place, maps, streaming and app updates work without tethering to your phone.
The unit can also join a Wi-Fi network, such as your phone's hotspot or your home network when the car is parked nearby. It's a good way to download apps and updates.
A GPS antenna comes in the box for the unit's own positioning. You can run navigation apps directly on the head unit, with the route shown across the wide screen.
The unit runs Android 14 on an octa-core 64-bit Qualcomm 685 processor with 8GB RAM and 256GB of storage. There's room for plenty of apps, music and offline maps.
It also supports 4K video playback, for watching while parked.
DAB radio is supported through an external DAB adapter. The adapter isn't in the box, so order one separately if you want digital radio.
Screen mirroring shows your phone's display on the head unit. It's handy for apps that don't run through CarPlay or Android Auto, best used while parked.
The unit supports a microphone for hands-free calls and voice commands, so you can talk without reaching for the phone.
A USB cable is included for connecting a phone by cable or playing media from a USB stick.

This unit only works with the original BMW CIC system, which usually has a CD button, a 4-pin LVDS port and a BMW CIC interface. Sound reaches the car's speakers through the AUX input, so AUX must be enabled. If your car has no working AUX input, you'll also need an FM transmitter such as the XTRONS CA/ITR/FM02. An ISO wiring harness, antennas and installation instructions are in the box.
It's for right-hand drive BMW X5 E70 and X6 E71 (2011-2013) with the original CIC system. Left-hand drive CIC cars need QWBX24CIB12X5L, right-hand drive CCC cars need QWBX24CCB12X5R and NBT cars need QWBX24NB12X5N.
A CIC car radio usually has a CD button, a 4-pin LVDS port and a BMW CIC interface. If the factory interface has been modified or updated, check carefully, as it can make the system harder to identify.
The unit plays sound through the car's AUX input. Without a working AUX port you'll need an FM transmitter, and the XTRONS CA/ITR/FM02 is compatible.
DAB is supported with an external DAB adapter, which is sold separately.
