A 12.3 inch 2K Android 14 screen that replaces the factory display in the BMW X1 F48 (from 2018) with the NBT EVO system. Your radio and iDrive stay, and you gain wireless CarPlay, Android Auto, 4G and a fast Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 processor.
This screen is for the BMW X1 F48 from 2018 with the NBT EVO system. NBT EVO cars have a 6-pin LVDS port and the EVO ID5 or ID6 interface. Other versions cover other systems: the QGB24NB12X1N for NBT, the QGB24CIB12X1N for CIC and the QGB24UMB12X1 for cars with no original display.
The original radio and iDrive system carry on working, and you can switch back to the factory system at any time. When you do, its touch function and gesture control won't work, so use the iDrive controller instead.
CarPlay connects your iPhone without a cable, so maps, music, messages and calls come up on the wide screen while the phone stays in your pocket. Siri handles requests by voice.
Your iPhone connects on its own when you start the car, so there's no cable to plug in. It needs an iPhone with wireless CarPlay support; check yours in Settings > General > CarPlay. A cable still works when you'd rather charge on the way.
Android phones connect wirelessly too. Google Maps and music apps sit in a layout made for driving, and Google Assistant takes voice commands.
Maps, calls, messages and music from your Android phone appear on the car screen, with Google Assistant for voice control. It needs a phone with Google services, which most Android phones have. To connect without a cable, the phone must support wireless Android Auto too.
The QHD 2K IPS panel has a 2400 x 900 resolution and accurate, rich colour. It's fully laminated with a G+G touch screen, so it responds quickly and stays clear from both front seats.
With a SIM card, integrated 4G LTE gives the unit its own data connection for music streaming and real-time navigation. You can share the connection with passengers, and a 4G antenna is supplied.
A SIM card in the head unit gives it its own internet connection for maps, traffic and streaming, so it doesn't need your phone's hotspot. You supply the SIM and the data plan; a data-only SIM is usually the cheapest way to do it.
Dual-band Wi-Fi supports 2.4GHz and 5GHz, so the unit can join a hotspot or home network for faster browsing, streaming and downloads.
Your original radio stays. For DAB+ on the Android side, add an XTRONS USB DAB tuner such as the USBDAB01, USBDAB02, USBDAB04, ACUSBDAB05T or ACUSBDAB06 (sold separately).
Digital radio gives clearer sound and more stations than FM where there's DAB coverage. It needs a DAB aerial: a stick-on windscreen aerial is the usual choice, or a splitter if your car already has a combined FM and DAB aerial.
XTRONS reversing cameras such as the CAM009S (AHD 720P) or ACCAM10802 (AHD 1080P) can be added for a clear view when parking.
The unit also works with XTRONS dash cams (DVR025S, DVR027S, DVR028S, DVR030S, ACDVR2K01, ACWIFIDVR02), OBD2 scanners (OBD01S to OBD04) for reading trouble codes, and TPMS sensors to show tyre pressures. All are sold separately.
Connect a reversing camera and its picture appears on the screen when you select reverse. Automatic switching needs the reverse signal wired in. If your car already has a factory camera, check whether you need an adapter to keep it.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 is a 6nm, 64-bit octa-core processor running at up to 2.4GHz, with dual channel 8GB DDR4 RAM and 128GB solid state ROM. Android 14 runs navigation, streaming and apps together without slowing down.
