The XTRONS QGBS25CIB12FV is a 12.3 inch Android 14 head unit that replaces the factory display in the BMW 5 Series F10/F11 (2011-2012) with the CIC system. You keep the CD player, radio and iDrive, and gain wireless CarPlay, wireless Android Auto and built-in 4G.
CarPlay connects to your iPhone without a cable, so maps, messages and music appear on the 12.3 inch screen while the phone stays in your pocket.
There's no cable to plug in each time you set off.
Your iPhone connects on its own when you start the car, so there's no cable to plug in. It needs an iPhone with wireless CarPlay support; check yours in Settings > General > CarPlay. A cable still works when you'd rather charge on the way.
Android Auto also connects wirelessly. Navigation, calls and music are on the big screen and controlled by touch, so the phone stays out of your hand.
Maps, calls, messages and music from your Android phone appear on the car screen, with Google Assistant for voice control. It needs a phone with Google services, which most Android phones have. To connect without a cable, the phone must support wireless Android Auto too.
The unit is made for BMWs with the original operating system. Your CD player, radio and iDrive controller all stay in use, and the Android side adds a touch screen alongside them.
It fills the place of the factory display, so the dashboard still looks like it left the factory that way.
The QHD 2K (2400 x 900) IPS panel gives rich, accurate colour, and the G+G touch screen responds well. IPS keeps the picture clear from the passenger seat as well.
4G LTE is built in, with a 4G antenna in the box. With a SIM card the unit can stream music, run real-time GPS navigation and share its internet connection with your passengers.
A SIM card in the head unit gives it its own internet connection for maps, traffic and streaming, so it doesn't need your phone's hotspot. You supply the SIM and the data plan; a data-only SIM is usually the cheapest way to do it.
Dual-band Wi-Fi supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. It's useful for downloading apps and updates from a hotspot or your home network.
A Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 octa-core processor with a Kryo 260 CPU running up to 2.0GHz powers Android 14. It has dual channel 6GB LPDDR4 RAM and 64GB UFS ROM, so there's room for plenty of apps.
DAB+ is supported with an external DAB tuner, such as the XTRONS USBDAB01, USBDAB02, USBDAB04, ACUSBDAB05T or ACUSBDAB06. The tuner is sold separately.
Digital radio gives clearer sound and more stations than FM where there's DAB coverage. It needs a DAB aerial: a stick-on windscreen aerial is the usual choice, or a splitter if your car already has a combined FM and DAB aerial.
Extra functions can be added with XTRONS accessories: a reversing camera, a DVR to record your journey, an OBD2 scanner to read live data and trouble codes, and a TPMS to show tyre pressures on the screen. Each is sold separately.
A USB cable is included for playing media from a USB stick or connecting a phone by cable.

This is a plug-and-play replacement for the factory display in cars with the CIC system. Sound plays through the car's AUX input, so AUX must be enabled; without a working AUX input you'll need an FM transmitter such as the XTRONS CA/ITR/FM02. An ISO wiring harness, plastic bracket and installation instructions are included.
A CIC system usually has a 4-pin LVDS port, a CIC interface and a CD button on the iDrive controller. For an accurate answer, check your VIN or ask your dealer.
For NBT, choose the XTRONS QGBS25NB12FV. For EVO, choose the XTRONS QGBS25EVB12FVN.
Yes. The CD player, radio and iDrive system all keep working.
The unit needs the AUX input for sound. Without a working one, add an FM transmitter; the XTRONS CA/ITR/FM02 is compatible.
