XTRONS QBB8460CI is an 8.8 inch Android screen for the BMW 3 Series, 5 Series, M3 and M5 with the CIC system, 2009-2012. It keeps the original BMW functions, including the iDrive controller and steering wheel controls, and adds wireless CarPlay, Android Auto and built-in 4G.
Your iPhone connects to CarPlay without a cable once paired. Maps, music, calls and messages appear on the 8.8 inch screen, and voice control means you can ask for directions without looking down.
Android phones connect to Android Auto wirelessly or by USB cable. Google Maps, music and messages come up on the screen, with voice control for calls and navigation.
The 8.8 inch IPS display runs at 1280×480 and has a G+G touch screen that responds quickly. Its wide viewing angles mean the passenger can see it clearly too.
Split-screen and picture-in-picture modes let you keep the map up while changing the music.
Built-in global 4G LTE gives the head unit its own connection for live traffic, streaming and app updates. A 4G antenna comes in the box.
Wi-Fi works on 2.4GHz and 5GHz, so the unit can join a phone hotspot or your home network for downloads and updates.
Bluetooth 5.1 streams music from your phone and handles hands-free calls through the built-in microphone.
For clearer calls, an external XTRONS microphone such as the ACMIC005 can be added and mounted closer to the driver.
The unit keeps all the original functions, including the steering wheel controls, the iDrive controller and the original displays. You switch between Android and the factory BMW system rather than losing it.
The unit is ready for front and rear AHD cameras, which give a real-time rear view with a wider angle and clear night vision. Cameras are sold separately, including AHD 1080P models such as the ACCAM10802.
You can cast your phone screen to the head unit wirelessly, handy for apps that aren't available in CarPlay or Android Auto. Use it when parked.
DAB+ digital radio needs an external XTRONS DAB tuner, such as the USBDAB01 or ACUSBDAB06, sold separately.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 is built on 11nm technology with an octa-core Kryo 260 CPU and an Adreno 610 GPU. With 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, it runs navigation, streaming and apps together without lag.
Optional XTRONS dash cams, OBD2 scanners and TPMS sensors can be added later.

The screen is custom fit for CIC cars and connects with the supplied ISO wiring harness. Sound plays through the car's AUX input, so AUX must be enabled; without a working AUX input you'll need an FM transmitter such as the XTRONS CA/ITR/FM02. Cars with the CCC system need the QBB8460CC instead.
A CIC radio usually has a CD button, a 4-pin LVDS port and a BMW CIC interface. If your car has the CCC system, the XTRONS QBB8460CC is the right model.
