A 10.25 inch Android 14 screen made as a plug-and-play replacement for the factory display in right-hand drive Mercedes-Benz E-Class W212 saloons and S212 estates (2009-2012) with NTG 4.0. You keep the CD player, radio and COMAND system, and gain wireless CarPlay, Android Auto and built-in 4G.
The screen matches the dashboard and adds Android without removing the CD player, radio or COMAND system. Swipe the screen to move between the original system and Android.
It's for right-hand drive E-Class W212 4-door saloons and S212 5-door estates from 2009-2012 with COMAND APS NTG 4.0. An NTG 4.0 system usually has a 10 pin LVDS port and the New Telematic Generation 4.0 menus. Right-hand drive cars with NTG 4.5 or NTG 4.7 need the QAMS1445M12ER, and those with NTG 5.0, 5.1 or 5.2 need the QAMS1450M12ER.
CarPlay connects wirelessly, so your iPhone's maps, calls and music appear on the 10.25 inch screen. Siri is there for voice commands.
Your iPhone connects on its own when you start the car, so there's no cable to plug in. It needs an iPhone with wireless CarPlay support; check yours in Settings > General > CarPlay. A cable still works when you'd rather charge on the way.
Android Auto works both wirelessly and with a cable. Your apps run on the large screen and Google Assistant handles voice commands.
Maps, calls, messages and music from your Android phone appear on the car screen, with Google Assistant for voice control. It needs a phone with Google services, which most Android phones have. To connect without a cable, the phone must support wireless Android Auto too.
The independent 4G module gives the unit its own internet connection once you insert a SIM card (not included), so maps, video and streaming don't depend on your phone. You can also share a hotspot with passengers.
A SIM card in the head unit gives it its own internet connection for maps, traffic and streaming, so it doesn't need your phone's hotspot. You supply the SIM and the data plan; a data-only SIM is usually the cheapest way to do it.
Wi-Fi connects the screen to a phone hotspot or your home network for app downloads and updates.
The built-in DSP lets you adjust the sound to suit the cabin and your taste.
The sound processor lets you tune the sound to your car: an equaliser, a delay for each speaker so the sound centres on your seat, and crossovers that keep deep bass away from small speakers. Start from a preset and change one setting at a time.
Mirror your phone onto the screen for apps that don't run in CarPlay or Android Auto.
Mirroring shows your phone's whole screen on the car screen, unlike CarPlay and Android Auto, which show apps designed for driving. It usually needs a companion app on the phone, and paid video streaming apps often block it.
USB playback lets you play music and video from a memory stick.
An external microphone can be used for clearer hands-free calls.
DAB radio is supported with an external tuner, sold separately.
Digital radio gives clearer sound and more stations than FM where there's DAB coverage. It needs a DAB aerial: a stick-on windscreen aerial is the usual choice, or a splitter if your car already has a combined FM and DAB aerial.

The screen replaces the factory display and works with the original COMAND system, so the CD player and radio stay in place. If your car has an AMI port, the AMI cable connects to the "audio Out" port on the ISO cable. Confirm your car has NTG 4.0 before ordering.
Right-hand drive W212 saloons and S212 estates from 2009-2012 with the NTG 4.0 system.
