The XTRONS QAMS1450M12ER is a 10.25 inch Android 14 screen for right-hand drive Mercedes-Benz E-Class W212 saloons and S212 estates (2015-2016) with COMAND APS NTG 5.0/5.1/5.2. It adds wireless CarPlay, Android Auto and 4G, and you keep the CD player, radio and COMAND system.
This unit only works with E-Class cars that have COMAND APS NTG 5.0/5.1/5.2, which usually has a 4 pin LVDS port. It's for right-hand drive W212 saloons and S212 estates from 2015-2016.
You keep the CD player, radio and COMAND system, and swipe the screen to move between them and Android.
Other versions cover other systems: QAMS1440M12ER for NTG 4.0 and QAMS1445M12ER for NTG 4.5 or NTG 4.7 in right-hand drive cars, with left-hand drive and A207/C207 coupé versions also available.
CarPlay connects to your iPhone wirelessly, putting maps, music and messages on the 10.25 inch screen. Siri is available for calls and directions.
Your iPhone connects on its own when you start the car, so there's no cable to plug in. It needs an iPhone with wireless CarPlay support; check yours in Settings > General > CarPlay. A cable still works when you'd rather charge on the way.
Android Auto works with or without a cable, and Google Assistant handles voice commands.
Maps, calls, messages and music from your Android phone appear on the car screen, with Google Assistant for voice control. It needs a phone with Google services, which most Android phones have. To connect without a cable, the phone must support wireless Android Auto too.
The independent 4G module takes a SIM card and gives the unit its own internet access for navigation, video and online apps. You can also share it as a hotspot with passengers.
A SIM card in the head unit gives it its own internet connection for maps, traffic and streaming, so it doesn't need your phone's hotspot. You supply the SIM and the data plan; a data-only SIM is usually the cheapest way to do it.
Wi-Fi lets the unit connect to a home network or a phone hotspot when you'd rather not use the SIM.
Android 14 runs on a 12nm octa-core chip at up to 2.0GHz with a Mali G52 GPU, 4GB DDR4 RAM and 64GB ROM.
The DSP lets you shape the sound to suit the E-Class cabin and your listening position.
The sound processor lets you tune the sound to your car: an equaliser, a delay for each speaker so the sound centres on your seat, and crossovers that keep deep bass away from small speakers. Start from a preset and change one setting at a time.
Screen mirroring shows your phone's display on the head unit, for apps that aren't in CarPlay or Android Auto.
Mirroring shows your phone's whole screen on the car screen, unlike CarPlay and Android Auto, which show apps designed for driving. It usually needs a companion app on the phone, and paid video streaming apps often block it.
The USB connection gives you wired Android Auto and lets you plug in USB devices.
Microphone support allows hands-free calls and voice commands to Siri or Google Assistant.
DAB digital radio works when an external DAB tuner is connected to the unit.
Digital radio gives clearer sound and more stations than FM where there's DAB coverage. It needs a DAB aerial: a stick-on windscreen aerial is the usual choice, or a splitter if your car already has a combined FM and DAB aerial.

The unit is a plug-and-play replacement for the factory display, and the CD player, radio and COMAND system stay. If your car has an AMI port, connect the AMI cable to the "audio Out" port on the ISO cable. Confirm that your car has COMAND APS NTG 5.0/5.1/5.2 and is right-hand drive before ordering.
NTG 5.0/5.1/5.2 usually has a 4 pin LVDS port and the newer Telematic Generation 5 style interface. Check before ordering.
For a right-hand drive W212 or S212, the XTRONS QAMS1445M12ER. NTG 4.0 cars need the QAMS1440M12ER.
Yes. The CD player, radio and COMAND system all stay.
Connect the AMI cable to the "audio Out" port on the ISO cable.
