Made for the BMW CIC system
This widescreen unit takes the place of the factory display and works with the original BMW CIC system. A CIC car radio usually has a Media button, a touch pad controller, a 6-pin LVDS port and a BMW CIC interface. Cars with the CCC system need QWBX24CCB12E92 instead.
Sound reaches the car's speakers through the AUX input, which must be enabled. If there's no AUX input or it doesn't work, you'll need an FM transmitter (XTRONS CA/ITR/FM02 is compatible).
Wireless Apple CarPlay
CarPlay connects without a cable, so your iPhone's maps, messages and music come up on the 12.3 inch screen while the phone stays in your pocket.
Your iPhone connects on its own when you start the car, so there's no cable to plug in. It needs an iPhone with wireless CarPlay support; check yours in Settings > General > CarPlay. A cable still works when you'd rather charge on the way.
Wireless Android Auto
Android phones connect to Android Auto wirelessly, putting Google Maps, calls and music on the widescreen display.
Maps, calls, messages and music from your Android phone appear on the car screen, with Google Assistant for voice control. It needs a phone with Google services, which most Android phones have. To connect without a cable, the phone must support wireless Android Auto too.
Android 14 with 8GB RAM
A Qualcomm 685 octa-core processor with 8GB RAM runs Android 14 apps smoothly. 256GB of storage holds plenty of apps, offline maps and music.
12.3 inch fully laminated IPS screen
The IPS touch screen is fully laminated, which keeps reflections down and the picture clear from the driver's and passenger's seats. It plays 4K video files.
4G mobile data
With a SIM in the 4G module, the unit has its own internet connection for live traffic and streaming, without using your phone as a hotspot. A 4G antenna is in the box.
A SIM card in the head unit gives it its own internet connection for maps, traffic and streaming, so it doesn't need your phone's hotspot. You supply the SIM and the data plan; a data-only SIM is usually the cheapest way to do it.
Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi connects the unit to a hotspot or your home network for app downloads and updates.
Screen mirroring
Screen mirroring shows your phone's display on the 12.3 inch screen, handy for apps that don't run in CarPlay or Android Auto.
Mirroring shows your phone's whole screen on the car screen, unlike CarPlay and Android Auto, which show apps designed for driving. It usually needs a companion app on the phone, and paid video streaming apps often block it.
Microphone for calls
The unit supports a microphone for hands-free calls and voice commands.
External DAB
Digital radio is supported with an external DAB tuner connected to the unit.
Digital radio gives clearer sound and more stations than FM where there's DAB coverage. It needs a DAB aerial: a stick-on windscreen aerial is the usual choice, or a splitter if your car already has a combined FM and DAB aerial.
