XTRONS QLBH4492CI3 is a 14.9 inch fully laminated Android 14 screen for the BMW 3 Series E90, E91, E92, E93 and M3 with the CIC system, 2009-2012. It works alongside the original system, so the CD player stays, and adds wireless CarPlay, Android Auto and built-in 4G.
The 14.9 inch IPS screen runs at 2560×720, a very wide format that shows a full map alongside music or calls. It's fully laminated with a slim custom bezel and a 2.5D edge, so it looks like part of a newer BMW dashboard.
It plays 2K video for passengers or while parked.
Your iPhone connects to CarPlay without a cable. Maps, music and calls come up on the wide screen, and voice commands let you control them without taking your hands off the wheel.
Your iPhone connects on its own when you start the car, so there's no cable to plug in. It needs an iPhone with wireless CarPlay support; check yours in Settings > General > CarPlay. A cable still works when you'd rather charge on the way.
Android phones connect through Android Auto wirelessly, with Google Maps, music apps and voice commands on the head unit.
Maps, calls, messages and music from your Android phone appear on the car screen, with Google Assistant for voice control. It needs a phone with Google services, which most Android phones have. To connect without a cable, the phone must support wireless Android Auto too.
Insert a SIM card into the supplied 4G SIM card slot and the head unit has its own connection for navigation and video, without tethering a phone. A 4G antenna comes in the box.
A SIM card in the head unit gives it its own internet connection for maps, traffic and streaming, so it doesn't need your phone's hotspot. You supply the SIM and the data plan; a data-only SIM is usually the cheapest way to do it.
Wi-Fi lets the unit join a phone hotspot or home network for app downloads and updates.
The built-in DSP gives you control over the equaliser and sound settings, so you can tune the audio to the car. Sound plays through the car's AUX input, so make sure AUX is enabled.
The sound processor lets you tune the sound to your car: an equaliser, a delay for each speaker so the sound centres on your seat, and crossovers that keep deep bass away from small speakers. Start from a preset and change one setting at a time.
A mini microphone comes in the box for hands-free calls and voice commands. Mount it near the driver so your voice comes through clearly.
The head unit can act as a wireless display for your iOS or Android phone. Use mirroring when parked.
Mirroring shows your phone's whole screen on the car screen, unlike CarPlay and Android Auto, which show apps designed for driving. It usually needs a companion app on the phone, and paid video streaming apps often block it.
DAB digital radio is supported through an external DAB adapter, sold separately.
Digital radio gives clearer sound and more stations than FM where there's DAB coverage. It needs a DAB aerial: a stick-on windscreen aerial is the usual choice, or a splitter if your car already has a combined FM and DAB aerial.
A 12nm octa-core chip (2xCortex-A75 + 6xCortex-A55) runs Android 14 with 8GB DDR4 RAM and 128GB storage, so maps, music and apps run smoothly side by side.
It also supports an AHD camera, sold separately, and a video cable comes in the box.

The screen works with the original CIC system, so the factory CD player doesn't have to come out, and an ISO wiring harness and audio cable are supplied. It connects to the car's AUX input for sound; without an AUX input you'll need an adapter such as the XTRONS CA/ITR/FM02 or CA/ITR/FM03.
A CIC radio usually has a 4-pin LVDS port, a CD button on the iDrive controller and a BMW Car Information Computer interface. That interface alone doesn't guarantee CIC, so check all three.
No. The original CD player doesn't need to be removed.
You'll need an adapter. The XTRONS CA/ITR/FM02 and CA/ITR/FM03 are compatible.
Yes. It supports an AHD camera, sold separately, and a video cable is included.
