XTRONS DD129S fits a standard single DIN slot and carries a 10.1 inch QLED touchscreen. It adds wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, plus an ADAS camera that warns of lane departures and possible collisions.
CarPlay connects to your iPhone without a cable, so it can stay in your pocket. Apps, navigation, music and calls appear on the 10.1 inch screen. If you'd rather plug in, a wired connection works too.
Your iPhone connects on its own when you start the car, so there's no cable to plug in. It needs an iPhone with wireless CarPlay support; check yours in Settings > General > CarPlay. A cable still works when you'd rather charge on the way.
Android phones connect through Android Auto, wirelessly or by USB cable. Google Maps, music apps and calls come up on the big screen, and you can use voice commands instead of reaching for the phone.
Maps, calls, messages and music from your Android phone appear on the car screen, with Google Assistant for voice control. It needs a phone with Google services, which most Android phones have. To connect without a cable, the phone must support wireless Android Auto too.
An ADAS camera comes in the box, along with an adhesive pad to mount it. Once fitted, the head unit gives real-time alerts for lane departures, possible forward collisions and pedestrians ahead.
It's an extra warning on long motorway runs and in busy town traffic, not a replacement for watching the road.
The large QLED touchscreen sits in front of a compact single DIN chassis, giving cars with a small factory radio slot a tablet-sized display. Maps are easier to read and the touch targets are bigger.
HD video decoding plays films smoothly for passengers or while you're parked.
The DSP lets you fine-tune the EQ to suit your car's speakers. Local music files, AM/FM radio and Bluetooth streaming all sit in one audio menu, so switching between them takes a tap.
The sound processor lets you tune the sound to your car: an equaliser, a delay for each speaker so the sound centres on your seat, and crossovers that keep deep bass away from small speakers. Start from a preset and change one setting at a time.
Pair a phone over Bluetooth to stream music from any app through the car speakers.
Wi-Fi connects the head unit to a phone hotspot or home network for app downloads, updates and online streaming.
Screen mirroring puts your phone's screen on the head unit. It's handy for an app that doesn't run in CarPlay or Android Auto; use it when parked.
Mirroring shows your phone's whole screen on the car screen, unlike CarPlay and Android Auto, which show apps designed for driving. It usually needs a companion app on the phone, and paid video streaming apps often block it.
An external XTRONS microphone, such as the ACMIC005, can be added for clearer hands-free calls. Mounted near the driver, it picks up your voice better than a unit in the dashboard.
DAB+ digital radio needs an external XTRONS DAB tuner, such as the USBDAB01 or ACUSBDAB06, sold separately. Once connected, digital stations play through the same audio menu.
Digital radio gives clearer sound and more stations than FM where there's DAB coverage. It needs a DAB aerial: a stick-on windscreen aerial is the usual choice, or a splitter if your car already has a combined FM and DAB aerial.
A reversing camera can be added, including AHD 1080P models such as the ACCAM10802. The camera cable comes in the box.
Connect a reversing camera and its picture appears on the screen when you select reverse. Automatic switching needs the reverse signal wired in. If your car already has a factory camera, check whether you need an adapter to keep it.
An HD input takes HDMI sources such as a TV box, games console or media player, which is useful for passengers on long trips.
The processor has 3 TOPS AI computing capability, with 2GB DDR4 RAM and 64GB storage for apps and media.

Universal: fits most cars with a single-DIN slot. Check the dimensions in the specifications against your dash.
