A 12.3 inch Android 13 screen made as a plug-and-play replacement for the factory display in the Mercedes-Benz E-Class. It has a 1920×720 IPS touch screen, wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, and global 4G LTE.
The 12.3 inch unit has a fully laminated, ultra-slim design with a tailor-made bezel for the Mercedes-Benz, giving a full-screen look like newer models. It's a plug-and-play replacement for the factory display.
CarPlay connects without a cable, so your iPhone's maps, calls and music appear on the wide screen while the phone stays in your pocket.
Your iPhone connects on its own when you start the car, so there's no cable to plug in. It needs an iPhone with wireless CarPlay support; check yours in Settings > General > CarPlay. A cable still works when you'd rather charge on the way.
Android Auto connects wirelessly too, putting Google Maps and your music apps on the dash.
Maps, calls, messages and music from your Android phone appear on the car screen, with Google Assistant for voice control. It needs a phone with Google services, which most Android phones have. To connect without a cable, the phone must support wireless Android Auto too.
The QLED screen gives strong, rich colour, so maps and media are easy to read at a glance.
The Grade-A IPS screen runs at 1920×720 in a 24:9 format, wide enough for a map and another app side by side. Viewing angles are wide, and the 2.5D G+G touch screen responds quickly.
A 12nm octa-core processor (Cortex-A75 x 2 + Cortex-A55 x 6) with a G52 GPU runs Android 13. 4GB LPDDR4 RAM and 64GB EMMC 5.1 ROM give room for apps, maps and media.
Insert a SIM card and the screen has its own LTE Cat 7 connection for navigation, streaming and apps. It supports 99% of carriers worldwide, but check your SIM works in this kind of device.
A SIM card in the head unit gives it its own internet connection for maps, traffic and streaming, so it doesn't need your phone's hotspot. You supply the SIM and the data plan; a data-only SIM is usually the cheapest way to do it.
Wi-Fi connects the screen to a phone hotspot or your home network for updates and streaming.
The built-in DSP lets you adjust the sound settings to suit the car and what you listen to.
The sound processor lets you tune the sound to your car: an equaliser, a delay for each speaker so the sound centres on your seat, and crossovers that keep deep bass away from small speakers. Start from a preset and change one setting at a time.
Screen mirroring shows your phone's display on the 12.3 inch screen, for apps that don't run in CarPlay or Android Auto.
Mirroring shows your phone's whole screen on the car screen, unlike CarPlay and Android Auto, which show apps designed for driving. It usually needs a companion app on the phone, and paid video streaming apps often block it.
A USB cable comes in the box for connecting a phone or USB drive.
A mini microphone is included. Fitted near the driver, it picks up your voice clearly for calls and voice commands.
The RCA audio output lets you connect an external amplifier if you want to add more power to the system.
RCA pre-outputs send a clean, low-level signal to an external amplifier or subwoofer. Count the channels you need (front, rear and sub) against the outputs in the specifications. You'll also need RCA leads and power wiring for the amplifier.
