The XTRONS QDB80X3NB is an 8.8 inch Android head unit that replaces the factory display in the BMW X3 F25 and X4 F26 (2014-2016) with the NBT system. You keep the CD player, radio and iDrive, and add wireless CarPlay, Android Auto and 4G.

Wireless Apple CarPlay
CarPlay connects wirelessly, putting your iPhone's maps, messages and music on the 8.8 inch screen. Siri voice commands work through the unit.
Your iPhone connects on its own when you start the car, so there's no cable to plug in. It needs an iPhone with wireless CarPlay support; check yours in Settings > General > CarPlay. A cable still works when you'd rather charge on the way.
Android Auto, wireless or wired
Android Auto supports both wireless and wired connections, with Google Assistant for voice requests and navigation on the big screen.
Maps, calls, messages and music from your Android phone appear on the car screen, with Google Assistant for voice control. It needs a phone with Google services, which most Android phones have. To connect without a cable, the phone must support wireless Android Auto too.
Keeps the BMW's original system
The unit is made for BMWs with their original OS and matches the dashboard. The CD player, radio and iDrive all stay, and you swipe the screen to use Android.
8.8 inch IPS screen
The 8.8 inch 1280×480 HD display uses Grade-A G+G touch glass for responsive control. The IPS panel keeps colours consistent from the passenger seat as well.
Octa-core performance
A true octa-core A55 processor with 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage runs an optimised Android system for smooth multitasking.
Built-in 4G LTE
The 4G LTE module supports European and Asian networks and comes with a 4G antenna. With a data SIM, navigation and streaming keep working without your phone.
A SIM card in the head unit gives it its own internet connection for maps, traffic and streaming, so it doesn't need your phone's hotspot. You supply the SIM and the data plan; a data-only SIM is usually the cheapest way to do it.
Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi lets the unit connect to a hotspot or your home network for downloads and updates.
Screen mirroring
Screen mirroring puts your phone's display on the car screen, handy for sharing something from an app that isn't in CarPlay or Android Auto while parked.
Mirroring shows your phone's whole screen on the car screen, unlike CarPlay and Android Auto, which show apps designed for driving. It usually needs a companion app on the phone, and paid video streaming apps often block it.
DAB with an adapter
DAB radio is supported with an external DAB adapter, which is sold separately.
Digital radio gives clearer sound and more stations than FM where there's DAB coverage. It needs a DAB aerial: a stick-on windscreen aerial is the usual choice, or a splitter if your car already has a combined FM and DAB aerial.
USB
A USB cable comes in the box, for wired Android Auto or media from a USB stick.
Microphone
The unit supports a microphone for hands-free calls and voice commands.

- This unit ONLY works with the original BMW NBT system. A NBT system car radio usually comes with a 6-pin LVDS port, a "MEDIA" button on the iDrive controller or a touch pad iDrive controller and a BMW ConnectedDrive interface.

This is a plug-and-play replacement for the factory display and only works with the original BMW NBT system. Sound plays through the car's AUX input, which must be enabled. If your car has no AUX input, you'll need an adapter such as the XTRONS CA/ITR/FM02 or CA/ITR/FM03 (not included).
How do I know if my X3 has NBT?
An NBT system usually has a 6-pin LVDS port, a "MEDIA" button or touch pad on the iDrive controller and a BMW ConnectedDrive interface. A "Car ConnectedDrive" interface on its own doesn't guarantee NBT.
Do I keep iDrive and the CD player?
Yes. The CD player, radio and iDrive all stay.
What if my car has no AUX input?
You'll need an adapter; the XTRONS CA/ITR/FM02 and CA/ITR/FM03 are compatible.
