A 7 inch Android 14 car stereo for the BMW E46 3 Series and M3, the Rover 75 and the MG ZT. It adds wireless CarPlay, Android Auto, global 4G and an AKM DSP, plus gyroscope sensors that show roll and pitch angles.
CarPlay connects without a cable and you can control it by voice. It supports iPhone 5 and later models with iOS 8 and above.
Your iPhone connects on its own when you start the car, so there's no cable to plug in. It needs an iPhone with wireless CarPlay support; check yours in Settings > General > CarPlay. A cable still works when you'd rather charge on the way.
Android Auto runs wirelessly, with voice commands for navigation, calls and music. It supports Android phones with Android 4.3 and above.
Maps, calls, messages and music from your Android phone appear on the car screen, with Google Assistant for voice control. It needs a phone with Google services, which most Android phones have. To connect without a cable, the phone must support wireless Android Auto too.
Built-in gyroscope sensors drive an inclinometer that shows the car's roll and pitch angle and ride height, with a compass alongside.
The AKM DSP chip has customisable sound modes and EQ settings, so you can set the sound to suit what you listen to. A TDA7388 amplifier drives the speakers.
The sound processor lets you tune the sound to your car: an equaliser, a delay for each speaker so the sound centres on your seat, and crossovers that keep deep bass away from small speakers. Start from a preset and change one setting at a time.
The 7 inch G+G touch screen runs at 1280×720. The IPS panel avoids colour shift at wide angles, so the passenger sees the same clear picture. It plays 2K video.
Android 14 runs on a 12nm octa core 2.2GHz processor with 4GB RAM and 64GB ROM. The components are tested from −30°C to +80°C, so it copes with cold mornings and hot summers.
Insert a Micro-SIM card and the stereo has its own 4G connection for live maps and streaming. A SIM card slot cable and 4G antenna come in the box. It supports 99% of carriers worldwide, but check your SIM works in this kind of device.
A SIM card in the head unit gives it its own internet connection for maps, traffic and streaming, so it doesn't need your phone's hotspot. You supply the SIM and the data plan; a data-only SIM is usually the cheapest way to do it.
Wi-Fi connects the stereo to a hotspot or your home network. USB tethering lets you share your phone's data over a cable.
Screen mirroring shows your phone's display on the stereo, for apps that don't run in CarPlay or Android Auto.
Mirroring shows your phone's whole screen on the car screen, unlike CarPlay and Android Auto, which show apps designed for driving. It usually needs a companion app on the phone, and paid video streaming apps often block it.
An external microphone comes in the box. Mounted near the driver, it picks up your voice clearly for calls and voice commands.
The stereo supports AHD cameras, and a camera cable is supplied for connecting a reversing camera.
Connect a reversing camera and its picture appears on the screen when you select reverse. Automatic switching needs the reverse signal wired in. If your car already has a factory camera, check whether you need an adapter to keep it.
The SI4755 radio has RDS for FM. Digital radio is supported with an external DAB tuner.
Digital radio gives clearer sound and more stations than FM where there's DAB coverage. It needs a DAB aerial: a stick-on windscreen aerial is the usual choice, or a splitter if your car already has a combined FM and DAB aerial.

The stereo comes with an ISO wiring harness, CANbus box, radio cable adapter and installation holder. Depending on the car you may need extra parts: extension cables if the radio antenna port or navigation drive is in the rear, an EXL007 extension cable for a DSP button or Harman Kardon system, or an FOBB05 decoder for a fibre optic amplifier. In a Rover 75 or MG ZT the trim on both sides of the unit has to be cut, so test every function before trimming.
The BMW E46 saloon, coupe, convertible, Touring, hatchback and M3, the Rover 75 (1999-2005) and the MG ZT (2001-2005).
An extension cable (XTRONS EXL007 is compatible). If the car has a fibre optic amplifier system, you'll also need a decoder such as XTRONS FOBB05.
No. The trim on both sides of the unit has to be cut, and a 36pin radio harness needs an extra ISO wiring harness (AK/PSP9046B/ISOCBL02).
iPhone 5 and later with iOS 8 and above, and Android phones with Android 4.3 and above.
