A 14.9 inch Android 13 screen that replaces the factory display in the BMW 5 Series F10/F11 (2011-2012) with the CIC system. It adds wireless CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, built-in 4G and a DSP, and keeps the original CD player in place.
This screen is a plug-and-play replacement for the factory display in the 5 Series F10/F11 from 2011-2012 with the CIC system. Android runs alongside the original BMW system, and the original CD player doesn't need to come out.
A CIC radio usually has a 4-pin LVDS port, a CD button on the iDrive controller and the BMW Car Information Computer interface, though that interface alone doesn't guarantee CIC. NBT cars need QLB42FVNB, and G30/G31 cars with NBT EVO need QAB12EVB12FVN.
The 12nm octa-core chip (2xCortex-A75 2.0GHz + 6xCortex-A55) with 4GB DDR4 RAM and 64GB solid state storage runs Android 13.
The QLED panel gives strong, rich colours, which makes maps and album art easy to pick out at a glance. Its slim, fully laminated design with a custom bezel and 2.5D edge gives the dashboard a full-screen look like a newer BMW.
The IPS panel keeps the picture clear from the passenger seat as well as the driver's seat, which matters on a screen this wide.
Your iPhone connects without a cable, so maps, calls and music appear on the big screen while the phone stays in your pocket.
Your iPhone connects on its own when you start the car, so there's no cable to plug in. It needs an iPhone with wireless CarPlay support; check yours in Settings > General > CarPlay. A cable still works when you'd rather charge on the way.
Android phones connect wirelessly too, bringing Google Maps, music apps and voice commands to the dashboard.
Maps, calls, messages and music from your Android phone appear on the car screen, with Google Assistant for voice control. It needs a phone with Google services, which most Android phones have. To connect without a cable, the phone must support wireless Android Auto too.
Insert a SIM card and the unit has its own 4G connection for navigation, video and apps, without using your phone's data. The 4G antenna is supplied.
A SIM card in the head unit gives it its own internet connection for maps, traffic and streaming, so it doesn't need your phone's hotspot. You supply the SIM and the data plan; a data-only SIM is usually the cheapest way to do it.
Connect to a phone hotspot or your home Wi-Fi for app downloads and updates.
The DSP lets you adjust the sound to suit the car, so the music is balanced around the driver's seat.
The sound processor lets you tune the sound to your car: an equaliser, a delay for each speaker so the sound centres on your seat, and crossovers that keep deep bass away from small speakers. Start from a preset and change one setting at a time.
An RCA audio output lets you add an external amplifier or subwoofer later.
RCA pre-outputs send a clean, low-level signal to an external amplifier or subwoofer. Count the channels you need (front, rear and sub) against the outputs in the specifications. You'll also need RCA leads and power wiring for the amplifier.
Mirror your phone onto the 14.9 inch screen to use apps that aren't part of CarPlay or Android Auto.
Mirroring shows your phone's whole screen on the car screen, unlike CarPlay and Android Auto, which show apps designed for driving. It usually needs a companion app on the phone, and paid video streaming apps often block it.
The supplied mini microphone can be placed near the driver for clearer hands-free calls and voice commands.
A USB cable is included for connecting a phone or USB storage.

The screen is a plug-and-play replacement for the factory display, fitted with the supplied mount, screws, ISO wiring harness and audio cable. Sound goes through the car's AUX input, so AUX must be enabled. Cars with no AUX input need an FM transmitter (XTRONS CA/ITR/FM02 and CA/ITR/FM03 are compatible).
No. This model is for CIC. Choose QLB42FVNB for NBT, or QAB12EVB12FVN for a G30/G31 with NBT EVO.
A CIC radio usually has a 4-pin LVDS port, a CD button on the iDrive controller and the BMW Car Information Computer interface.
