The XTRONS QWBX24CCB12E60 is a 12.3 inch widescreen Android 14 head unit that replaces the factory display in the BMW 5 Series E60/E61 and M5 with the CCC system. It adds wireless CarPlay, wireless Android Auto and built-in 4G in an OEM-style screen.
CarPlay connects to your iPhone without a cable. Maps, messages and music appear across the wide screen, and the phone can stay in your pocket.
It links up again each time you start the car.
Your iPhone connects on its own when you start the car, so there's no cable to plug in. It needs an iPhone with wireless CarPlay support; check yours in Settings > General > CarPlay. A cable still works when you'd rather charge on the way.
Android Auto is wireless too, putting Google Maps, calls and music apps on the screen for Android phone users. Everything is controlled by touch or voice.
Maps, calls, messages and music from your Android phone appear on the car screen, with Google Assistant for voice control. It needs a phone with Google services, which most Android phones have. To connect without a cable, the phone must support wireless Android Auto too.
The fully laminated IPS touch screen fills the space of the factory display in an OEM style. Lamination cuts reflections, and IPS keeps the picture clear from the passenger seat.
The unit also plays 4K video, best enjoyed while parked.
A Qualcomm 685 octa-core processor runs Android 14 with 8GB RAM and 256GB of storage. That's plenty of room for apps, music and offline maps.
4G is built in and a 4G antenna is included. With a data SIM the unit has its own internet connection, so online maps and streaming don't depend on your phone.
A SIM card in the head unit gives it its own internet connection for maps, traffic and streaming, so it doesn't need your phone's hotspot. You supply the SIM and the data plan; a data-only SIM is usually the cheapest way to do it.
Wi-Fi lets the unit connect to a hotspot or your home network, which is handy for app downloads and updates.
DAB radio is supported with an external DAB adapter, which is sold separately.
Digital radio gives clearer sound and more stations than FM where there's DAB coverage. It needs a DAB aerial: a stick-on windscreen aerial is the usual choice, or a splitter if your car already has a combined FM and DAB aerial.
Screen mirroring puts your phone's display on the head unit, useful for apps outside CarPlay and Android Auto when you're parked.
Mirroring shows your phone's whole screen on the car screen, unlike CarPlay and Android Auto, which show apps designed for driving. It usually needs a companion app on the phone, and paid video streaming apps often block it.
The unit supports a microphone for hands-free calls and voice commands through CarPlay and Android Auto.
A USB cable is in the box for connecting a phone by cable or playing media from a USB stick.

This is a plug-and-play replacement for the factory display in cars with the CCC system. Sound plays through the car's AUX input, which must be enabled; if your car has no working AUX input, you'll need an FM transmitter such as the XTRONS CA/ITR/FM02. An ISO wiring harness, antennas and installation instructions are in the box.
No, it's for cars with the CCC system. For CIC, choose the QWBX24CIB12E60.
Check your VIN on a dedicated website or ask your dealer. A modified or updated interface can make the system harder to identify.
The unit uses the AUX input for sound. Without a working AUX port you'll need an FM transmitter, and the XTRONS CA/ITR/FM02 is compatible.
