A 12.3 inch Android screen upgrade for the Audi Q5 and SQ5 (2017-2020) with the MIB2 system. It keeps the original CD player, amplifier, radio and factory Bluetooth, and adds wireless CarPlay, Android Auto and 4G on a fully laminated QHD 2K IPS screen.
This screen works alongside the Q5's MIB2 system rather than replacing it. The original CD player, amplifier, radio, factory Bluetooth and backup camera display all stay, and the steering wheel controls keep working.
So you add Android, CarPlay and Android Auto without losing anything the car already did.
CarPlay connects your iPhone without a cable. Maps, messages and music appear on the 12.3 inch screen, and voice control lets you ask for them without reaching for the phone.
Your iPhone connects on its own when you start the car, so there's no cable to plug in. It needs an iPhone with wireless CarPlay support; check yours in Settings > General > CarPlay. A cable still works when you'd rather charge on the way.
Android phones can use Android Auto wirelessly or with a cable, whichever suits. Google Maps, calls and your music apps are shown on the wide screen.
Maps, calls, messages and music from your Android phone appear on the car screen, with Google Assistant for voice control. It needs a phone with Google services, which most Android phones have. To connect without a cable, the phone must support wireless Android Auto too.
The 2400*900 IPS screen is fully laminated, which cuts down light refraction so the picture stays clear and the colours natural from any angle.
The G+G touch screen responds quickly to taps and swipes. Day and night modes and a choice of UI themes let you set the look you prefer.
A Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 octa-core processor on an 11nm process, with a Kryo 260 CPU and third-gen AI engine, runs Android smoothly while you navigate and stream.
4GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 64GB of UFS2.2 storage give apps quick launch times and room for your media.
Integrated 4G LTE with global compatibility gives the screen its own internet connection for live maps and streaming, without tethering to your phone.
A SIM card in the head unit gives it its own internet connection for maps, traffic and streaming, so it doesn't need your phone's hotspot. You supply the SIM and the data plan; a data-only SIM is usually the cheapest way to do it.
Wi-Fi works on 2.4GHz and 5GHz, for connecting to a hotspot or your home network to update apps.
You can cast your phone's screen to the stereo wirelessly, which is handy for apps that don't run in CarPlay or Android Auto.
Mirroring shows your phone's whole screen on the car screen, unlike CarPlay and Android Auto, which show apps designed for driving. It usually needs a companion app on the phone, and paid video streaming apps often block it.
Split-screen and picture-in-picture let you keep the map on one side while you change the music or check another app on the other.
Bluetooth 5.1 streams music from your phone, and the built-in microphone picks up your voice for hands-free calls. You can add an external microphone too.
The unit supports front and rear AHD cameras, with a real-time reversing image that has a wide angle and night vision. The factory backup camera display is retained as well.
Connect a reversing camera and its picture appears on the screen when you select reverse. Automatic switching needs the reverse signal wired in. If your car already has a factory camera, check whether you need an adapter to keep it.
You can connect a DVR dash cam, an OBD scanner, a DAB tuner and a TPMS kit, each bought separately, and use them through the screen.
Recordings from a dash cam show on the car screen, live or played back. It needs a USB dash cam made for Android head units; an ordinary dash cam with its own screen won't connect this way. Mount the camera behind the mirror, clear of your view.
