The unit fits the A3 8P (2003-2012), the A3 8P1 3-door hatchback (2003-2012), the S3 (2006-2012) and the RS3 (2011-2012), with a face panel of 239/228mmx123mm. Through the supplied CANbus box it keeps factory features such as the BOSE audio system, ACC and door warnings. It doesn't have a DVD drive.

It runs Android 14 on a Unisoc 7865 octa-core chipset (2x A75 @ 2.2GHz + 6x A55 @ 1.8GHz) with 8GB RAM and 128GB UFS 2.2 storage, so maps, music and apps run side by side without slowing down.

A built-in gyroscope and inclinometer show roll and pitch in real time if you take the car off the tarmac.

Your iPhone connects over Wi-Fi, putting maps, messages, calls and music on the 8 inch screen without a cable. Voice control means fewer taps on the move.

Android phones connect without a cable too, with Google Maps, music apps and voice commands on the dashboard.

The QLED panel has rich colours and an anti-glare finish to help in direct sunlight. It runs at 1280×720 and plays 1080P video.

The IPS panel stays readable from the passenger seat as well as the driver's, and the G+G tempered glass gives a precise touch.

The AKM 7604 DSP with a 36-band equaliser lets you shape the sound to the A3's cabin and speakers, taming boomy bass or sharp treble.

The tuning applies to the built-in amplifier and to the optical, coaxial and RCA outputs.

The built-in TDA7851 amplifier delivers 4x 48W to the car's speakers, so everyday listening doesn't need an external amplifier.

Use the RCA outputs to add an amplifier or subwoofer, or the optical and coaxial outputs to send a digital signal to an external processor. An RCA cable is supplied.

Insert a standard Micro-SIM and the unit gets its own 4G LTE data for real-time traffic, weather and streaming, without tethering your phone. A 4G antenna is included.

The unit uses 2.4G/5G Wi-Fi for wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, and can join a hotspot or home network for updates.

Two Bluetooth modules work together: the Qualcomm module streams music with aptX HD, and the Unisoc 5.2 module can connect to an OBD-II scanner or dash cam at the same time.

With the supplied GPS antenna, navigation apps on the unit track your position and can show live traffic over 4G.

Factory steering wheel buttons for volume, track and calls keep working through the CANbus connection.

Mirror your phone's screen onto the head unit for apps that aren't available in CarPlay or Android Auto.

The unit supports an external DAB receiver for digital radio. A receiver isn't built in.

Two USB cables are supplied, so you can connect a phone and a USB stick of music or video.
