XTRONS QAM1245M12ML45 is a 10.25 inch Android 13 screen for the Mercedes-Benz ML-Class W166 and GL-Class X166 with COMAND APS NTG 4.5 or NTG 4.7. It works alongside the original stereo, so you keep the CD player, radio and COMAND, and adds wireless CarPlay, Android Auto and built-in 4G.
CarPlay connects to your iPhone wirelessly. Compatible apps appear on the 10.25 inch screen, and Siri voice commands keep your hands on the wheel.
Your iPhone connects on its own when you start the car, so there's no cable to plug in. It needs an iPhone with wireless CarPlay support; check yours in Settings > General > CarPlay. A cable still works when you'd rather charge on the way.
Android phones connect to Android Auto wirelessly or by cable, with Google Maps, music apps and Google Assistant on the head unit.
Maps, calls, messages and music from your Android phone appear on the car screen, with Google Assistant for voice control. It needs a phone with Google services, which most Android phones have. To connect without a cable, the phone must support wireless Android Auto too.
The 10.25 inch QLED touch screen gives strong, rich colours and fills the space of the factory display, so the dashboard still looks original.
The panel uses IPS technology, so the picture stays clear when viewed from the passenger seat as well as the driver's.
Insert a Nano SIM card (not included) and the independent 4G module connects the head unit directly to the internet. You can also share a hotspot with passengers.
The 4G carries data only, not phone calls, though you can make voice or video calls through apps.
A SIM card in the head unit gives it its own internet connection for maps, traffic and streaming, so it doesn't need your phone's hotspot. You supply the SIM and the data plan; a data-only SIM is usually the cheapest way to do it.
Wi-Fi lets the head unit join a phone hotspot or home network for downloads and updates.
The built-in DSP lets you adjust the sound settings to suit the car. An audio box and audio cable are supplied to connect the sound.
The sound processor lets you tune the sound to your car: an equaliser, a delay for each speaker so the sound centres on your seat, and crossovers that keep deep bass away from small speakers. Start from a preset and change one setting at a time.
An RCA audio output lets you add an external amplifier later.
RCA pre-outputs send a clean, low-level signal to an external amplifier or subwoofer. Count the channels you need (front, rear and sub) against the outputs in the specifications. You'll also need RCA leads and power wiring for the amplifier.
Microphone support allows hands-free calls and voice commands through the head unit.
A USB cable is supplied for connecting a phone or playing media from a USB stick.
Screen mirroring shows your phone's screen on the head unit for apps outside CarPlay and Android Auto. Use it when parked.
Mirroring shows your phone's whole screen on the car screen, unlike CarPlay and Android Auto, which show apps designed for driving. It usually needs a companion app on the phone, and paid video streaming apps often block it.
DAB digital radio works with an external DAB adapter, sold separately.
Digital radio gives clearer sound and more stations than FM where there's DAB coverage. It needs a DAB aerial: a stick-on windscreen aerial is the usual choice, or a splitter if your car already has a combined FM and DAB aerial.
A 12nm octa-core chip (2xCortex-A75 2.0GHz + 6xCortex-A55) runs Android 13 with 8GB DDR4 RAM and 128GB storage, so maps, music and apps run side by side.

The screen replaces the factory display and works with the original stereo, so the CD player, radio and COMAND stay. An ISO wiring harness, audio box, audio cable and face panel are supplied. If your car has an AMI port, connect the AMI cable to the ISO cable's audio in port.
An NTG 4.5 system usually has a 4 pin LVDS port and the New Telematic Generation 4.5/4.7 interface. Check this before ordering, as the unit only works with these systems.
The 4G is for internet data only. You can make voice or video calls through apps.
A Nano SIM card, which isn't included.
Yes. The CD player, radio and COMAND system stay in use.
