The XTRONS PX74M211GS is a 7 inch Android 14 head unit made to fit the Mercedes-Benz E-Class W211 and CLS W219. It brings wireless CarPlay, Android Auto and 4G to the dashboard, with an AKM DSP for tuning the sound.

Wireless Apple CarPlay
CarPlay connects without a cable, so maps, messages and music appear on the 7 inch screen and you can use voice commands. It supports iPhone 5 and later models with iOS 8 and above.
Your iPhone connects on its own when you start the car, so there's no cable to plug in. It needs an iPhone with wireless CarPlay support; check yours in Settings > General > CarPlay. A cable still works when you'd rather charge on the way.
Android Auto
Full-featured Android Auto puts navigation, calls and music from your Android phone on the screen. It supports Android phones with Android 4.3 and above.
Maps, calls, messages and music from your Android phone appear on the car screen, with Google Assistant for voice control. It needs a phone with Google services, which most Android phones have. To connect without a cable, the phone must support wireless Android Auto too.
AKM DSP
The automotive-grade AKM DSP chip lets you shape the sound with customisable modes and EQ settings, so you can set it up for the music you play most.
The sound processor lets you tune the sound to your car: an equaliser, a delay for each speaker so the sound centres on your seat, and crossovers that keep deep bass away from small speakers. Start from a preset and change one setting at a time.
7 inch HD IPS screen
The 7 inch 1280×720 capacitive touch screen uses G+G glass and IPS technology. Colours stay true from an angle, so the passenger sees the same picture as the driver.
Android 14 and octa-core processor
A 12nm octa-core 2.2GHz processor runs Android 14 with 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage. It's tested to run from −30°C to +80°C and plays 2K video.
A TDA7388 amplifier drives the speakers, and an SI4755 radio with RDS handles FM.
4G mobile data
Insert a Micro-SIM card and the unit has its own 4G connection for maps and streaming. A 4G antenna and a SIM card slot cable are included.
A SIM card in the head unit gives it its own internet connection for maps, traffic and streaming, so it doesn't need your phone's hotspot. You supply the SIM and the data plan; a data-only SIM is usually the cheapest way to do it.
Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi lets the unit join a hotspot or your home network for app downloads and updates.
DAB with an adapter
DAB radio is supported with an external DAB adapter, which is sold separately.
Digital radio gives clearer sound and more stations than FM where there's DAB coverage. It needs a DAB aerial: a stick-on windscreen aerial is the usual choice, or a splitter if your car already has a combined FM and DAB aerial.
Microphone
A microphone is included. Mounted near the driver, it picks up your voice for hands-free calls and voice commands.
Screen mirroring
Screen mirroring shows your phone's display on the head unit, useful for apps outside CarPlay and Android Auto while parked.
Mirroring shows your phone's whole screen on the car screen, unlike CarPlay and Android Auto, which show apps designed for driving. It usually needs a companion app on the phone, and paid video streaming apps often block it.
USB and USB tethering
Two USB cables are included. USB tethering lets the unit use your phone's mobile data over a cable, and AHD cameras connect through the included camera cable.

- For Japanese-manufactured vehicles, this unit is not Plug and Play. Additional cable modification is required, which should be carried out by a professional installer.

The unit comes with a CANbus box, two ISO wiring harnesses and radio adapter cables. Some cars need more: an E-Class or CLS with COMAND APS NTG 1 needs the XTRONS FOBB01 optical decoder, NTG 2.5 cars need the FOBB03 and AK24540P, and cars from 2008 or later with the pictured connector need the AK24540P power cable. If your car has a 40-pin connector, check the pin alignment before fitting.
Will it fit my W211?
The centre console must be trapezoidal with a trim strip above. If there's a screen above the centre console, choose the XTRONS QBMH2440M12ER for right-hand drive or QBMH2440M12EL for left-hand drive instead.
What stops working after fitting?
The CD changer, the air conditioning information and the original motorised compartment won't work with this unit.
My car has COMAND. Do I need anything else?
Yes. NTG 1 cars need the XTRONS FOBB01 optical decoder box, and NTG 2.5 cars need the FOBB03 and AK24540P. These aren't included.
Does it have DAB?
DAB works with an external DAB adapter, sold separately.
