A 7 inch Android 15 head unit for the Mercedes-Benz B-Class W245, A-Class W169, Viano and Vito W639, Sprinter W906 and the Volkswagen Crafter. It brings wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, a built-in 4G modem and a QLED screen to the dashboard, with optical, coaxial and RCA outputs for an audio upgrade later.
The unit is a custom fit for the Mercedes-Benz B-Class W245 (2005-2011), A-Class W169 (2004-2012), Viano and Vito W639 (2006-2018) and Sprinter W906 (2006-2022), and the Volkswagen Crafter (2006-Now). On the Viano and Vito, check the dimensions first.
Your centre console needs to be quadrate-shaped for it to fit. It isn't compatible with cars that have a factory MOST fibre-optic system.
After fitting, the CD changer and the original motorised compartment stop working, and air conditioning information isn't shown on the screen.
Your iPhone connects to CarPlay over Wi-Fi without a cable, so maps, music, calls and messages show up on the dashboard while the phone stays put. You can also plug in by USB if you prefer a wired connection that charges the phone.
Your iPhone connects on its own when you start the car, so there's no cable to plug in. It needs an iPhone with wireless CarPlay support; check yours in Settings > General > CarPlay. A cable still works when you'd rather charge on the way.
Android Auto works wirelessly or over USB. Google Maps, music apps and messages appear in a simple layout made for driving, and Google Assistant handles them by voice.
Maps, calls, messages and music from your Android phone appear on the car screen, with Google Assistant for voice control. It needs a phone with Google services, which most Android phones have. To connect without a cable, the phone must support wireless Android Auto too.
Insert a standard nano SIM card and the head unit has its own internet connection for maps, streaming and apps. You don't need to set up a hotspot on your phone each time you get in.
A 4G antenna is in the box.
A SIM card in the head unit gives it its own internet connection for maps, traffic and streaming, so it doesn't need your phone's hotspot. You supply the SIM and the data plan; a data-only SIM is usually the cheapest way to do it.
Dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz and 5GHz) gives a faster, steadier connection for streaming, updates and navigation when there's a network nearby. It also carries the wireless CarPlay and Android Auto connection.
The 7 inch QLED screen has a 1280×720 resolution with bright, vivid colours, so maps and media are crisp at a glance.
It's a Grade-A HD IPS panel with wide viewing angles. The passenger sees the same clear picture as the driver, which helps when they're following the route.
A built-in DSP DQ7603 lets you shape the sound to suit the cabin, from tone to balance. The STMicroelectronics TCB001HQ amplifier (4x45W) drives the speakers.
The sound processor lets you tune the sound to your car: an equaliser, a delay for each speaker so the sound centres on your seat, and crossovers that keep deep bass away from small speakers. Start from a preset and change one setting at a time.
Optical, coaxial and RCA audio outputs let you feed an external amplifier or processor if you want to build up the system later. An RCA cable is in the box.
RCA pre-outputs send a clean, low-level signal to an external amplifier or subwoofer. Count the channels you need (front, rear and sub) against the outputs in the specifications. You'll also need RCA leads and power wiring for the amplifier.
An RDS-FM/AM tuner is built in, and the unit is DAB+ ready. Add an XTRONS USBDAB04 DAB+ tuner (sold separately) for digital radio stations.
Digital radio gives clearer sound and more stations than FM where there's DAB coverage. It needs a DAB aerial: a stick-on windscreen aerial is the usual choice, or a splitter if your car already has a combined FM and DAB aerial.
Screen mirroring puts your phone's display on the head unit, useful for an app that doesn't run in CarPlay or Android Auto. It's best left to a passenger or for when you're parked.
Mirroring shows your phone's whole screen on the car screen, unlike CarPlay and Android Auto, which show apps designed for driving. It usually needs a companion app on the phone, and paid video streaming apps often block it.
Bluetooth 5.4 pairs your phone for hands-free calls and audio streaming. A microphone is included so callers hear you clearly.
The unit supports 720P and 1080P AHD cameras and shows the picture as soon as you shift into reverse. The camera connection is part of the wiring harness, and a camera cable is in the box.
If your car has an original rear view system, order the XTRONS ICE/AOS/FZMRM01 to keep it working.
Connect a reversing camera and its picture appears on the screen when you select reverse. Automatic switching needs the reverse signal wired in. If your car already has a factory camera, check whether you need an adapter to keep it.
Android 15 runs on an ASR8662 Octa-Core CPU with 6 GB DDR4 RAM and 128GB UFS 2.2 storage, so apps open quickly and there's room for maps and music. A cooling system keeps it stable on long drives.
A warm start takes 1 second, so the screen is ready almost as soon as you turn the key.

The unit comes with an ISO wiring harness, radio cable adapter, CANbus box and extension, so it connects to the car's own wiring. If the CANbus box doesn't work with your car, try connecting the male connector to one of the female connectors, then the other. Don't use the CANbus box on a Volkswagen Crafter with CANbus.
