A 10.25-inch Android 13 screen made as a plug-and-play replacement for the factory display in the Mercedes-Benz A-Class W176, CLA-Class C117, GLA-Class X156 and G-Class W463 with NTG 4.5 or NTG 4.7. You keep the CD player, radio and COMAND system, and add wireless CarPlay, Android Auto and 4G.
The screen is made to match the Mercedes dashboard and works with the original system rather than replacing it. The CD player, radio and COMAND all stay, and a swipe of the screen takes you into Android for apps, CarPlay and Android Auto.
CarPlay connects to your iPhone wirelessly, putting maps, calls, messages and music on the 10.25-inch screen. Siri voice commands let you ask for directions or a song without touching the phone.
Your iPhone connects on its own when you start the car, so there's no cable to plug in. It needs an iPhone with wireless CarPlay support; check yours in Settings > General > CarPlay. A cable still works when you'd rather charge on the way.
Android Auto works both wirelessly and with a cable, so you can choose to charge your phone as you go. Google Assistant handles voice commands.
Maps, calls, messages and music from your Android phone appear on the car screen, with Google Assistant for voice control. It needs a phone with Google services, which most Android phones have. To connect without a cable, the phone must support wireless Android Auto too.
Insert a SIM card and the 4G module gives the unit its own internet connection for navigation and video, separate from your phone. You can also share it as a hotspot with your passengers.
A SIM card in the head unit gives it its own internet connection for maps, traffic and streaming, so it doesn't need your phone's hotspot. You supply the SIM and the data plan; a data-only SIM is usually the cheapest way to do it.
Wi-Fi lets the unit connect to a hotspot or your home network for app downloads and updates.
The DSP lets you adjust the sound, so you can balance it to suit the car's speakers and your taste.
The sound processor lets you tune the sound to your car: an equaliser, a delay for each speaker so the sound centres on your seat, and crossovers that keep deep bass away from small speakers. Start from a preset and change one setting at a time.
Screen mirroring puts your phone's display on the head unit, for apps that aren't available in CarPlay or Android Auto.
Mirroring shows your phone's whole screen on the car screen, unlike CarPlay and Android Auto, which show apps designed for driving. It usually needs a companion app on the phone, and paid video streaming apps often block it.
Android Auto can run over a USB connection as well as wirelessly, which keeps your phone charged on long trips.
The unit supports a microphone for hands-free calls and Siri or Google Assistant voice commands.
Connect an external DAB tuner to receive digital radio. The tuner is a separate accessory.
Digital radio gives clearer sound and more stations than FM where there's DAB coverage. It needs a DAB aerial: a stick-on windscreen aerial is the usual choice, or a splitter if your car already has a combined FM and DAB aerial.
The octa-core chip is built on a 12nm process and runs at up to 2.0GHz, with a Mali G52 GPU, 4GB of DDR4 RAM and 64GB of SSD storage. It runs Android 13.
