CarPlay connects to your iPhone without a cable, so maps, messages and music appear on the 9 inch screen while the phone stays in your pocket.

If you'd rather charge as you drive, plug in by USB and CarPlay runs wired instead.

Android Auto works the same way: wirelessly over Wi-Fi, or by USB cable when you want the phone charging.

Navigation, calls and music are all controlled from the touchscreen, so the phone can stay out of reach.

The head unit has its own 4G LTE modem. Put a standard nano SIM card in and it gets online for maps, streaming and apps, without using your phone as a hotspot.

A 4G antenna is included.

The 9 inch Grade-A HD QLED screen runs at 1280 x 720, with strong colour that keeps maps and menus easy to read.

The screen is also an IPS panel with wide viewing angles. The passenger sees the same clear picture as the driver, which helps when they're picking music or checking the route.

A built-in DSP (DQ7603) lets you tune the sound to your Jeep's cabin and speakers from the unit's settings.

It's paired with an STMicroelectronics TCB001HQ amplifier rated at 4x45W, which drives the car's speakers directly.

For a bigger system later, the unit has optical, coaxial and RCA audio outputs. These let you connect an external amplifier, subwoofer or processor, and an RCA cable is in the box.

The unit uses GPS, Galileo, GLONASS and BEIDOU satellites for positioning, and a GPS antenna comes with it. You can run navigation apps on the head unit itself, without relying on the phone.

Dual band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz and 5GHz) gives a faster, steadier connection for streaming and updates. It's also how wireless CarPlay and Android Auto talk to your phone.

The RDS-FM/AM tuner is built in. DAB+ digital radio is supported with an external DAB adapter, which is sold separately.

Connect a 720P/1080P AHD reversing camera and the picture appears as soon as you select reverse. A camera cable is included, which makes judging the space behind the Renegade much easier.

Bluetooth 5.4 handles hands-free calls and music streaming from your phone. The included microphone picks up your voice for calls.

Screen mirroring shows your phone's display on the head unit when connected by USB. It's useful for apps that don't run in CarPlay or Android Auto, ideally while parked.

An ASR8662 octa-core CPU with an AI GPU runs Android 15, backed by 6GB DDR4 RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage. Apps open quickly and there's room for music and offline maps.

It starts in about 50 seconds from cold and 1 second from a warm start, and a cooling system keeps performance steady on long drives.
