Jeep Renegade 9″ Android Head Unit with Wireless CarPlay, Android Auto and 4G | IMH94RGJL

CarPlay connects over the unit's Wi-Fi, so your iPhone can stay in your pocket. Maps, messages, calls and music appear on the 9″ screen, and you can ask Siri for directions or a song.

Android phones connect wirelessly as well. Google Maps, music apps and calls show on the screen, and voice commands keep your hands on the wheel.

The 9″ QLED screen runs at 1280×720 behind G+G tempered glass. Colours are strong and the anti-glare finish helps when the sun is on it.

1080P video plays smoothly when you're parked.

It's an IPS panel, so the picture keeps its colour and contrast from the passenger seat as well as the driver's.

The AKM 7604 DSP gives you 36-band equalisation, so you can tune out boomy or harsh frequencies in the cabin. It suits hi-res music played from the unit or your phone.

The built-in TDA7851 amplifier is rated at 4x 48W output and drives the Jeep's speakers directly.

Fibre-optic, coaxial and RCA outputs mean you can add an external amplifier or processor later. An RCA cable is in the box.

Insert a standard Micro-SIM and the unit has its own 4G connection for live traffic, weather and streaming. There's no need to tether your phone. The 4G antenna is supplied.

Dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4G/5G) carries wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, and lets the unit join a hotspot for downloads and updates.

The unit has two Bluetooth modules, Qualcomm and Unisoc, that work at the same time. Qualcomm aptX HD streams music from your phone, while the Unisoc 5.2 link connects to accessories such as OBD-II scanners or dash cams.

An OBD-II scanner can connect over the Unisoc Bluetooth link, so engine data can be read on the head unit. The scanner is sold separately.

Digital radio works once an external DAB tuner is added. It's an extra you'd buy separately.

Screen mirroring shows your phone's display on the head unit. It's handy for apps that don't run in CarPlay or Android Auto, best used when parked.

A GPS antenna is included, and Android navigation apps run on the unit itself. With 4G connected, maps can show real-time traffic.

CANbus integration keeps the Jeep's factory features, and the steering wheel controls for volume, track and calls carry on working. The unit uses the original wiring harness, leaving the airbag and safety systems as they were.

A built-in gyroscope and inclinometer show real-time roll and pitch, which is useful off-road, with no extra sensors needed.

The Unisoc 7865 Octa-Core chipset with 8GB RAM and 128GB UFS 2.2 storage runs Android 14, and it's rated from -30°C to +80°C.
