The XTRONS QDB1087UNL adds a 10.25 inch Android screen to left-hand drive BMW 1 Series E81, E82, E87 and E88 models (2006-2012) that came without an original display. It brings wireless CarPlay, Android Auto and 4G, and you keep the CD player and radio.

Wireless Apple CarPlay
CarPlay connects wirelessly, so your iPhone's maps, messages and music appear on the 10.25 inch screen. For a 1 Series that never had a display, it adds proper navigation and on-screen music control.
Your iPhone connects on its own when you start the car, so there's no cable to plug in. It needs an iPhone with wireless CarPlay support; check yours in Settings > General > CarPlay. A cable still works when you'd rather charge on the way.
Android Auto, wireless or wired
Android Auto supports both wireless and wired connections, with Google Assistant for voice requests.
Maps, calls, messages and music from your Android phone appear on the car screen, with Google Assistant for voice control. It needs a phone with Google services, which most Android phones have. To connect without a cable, the phone must support wireless Android Auto too.
10.25 inch IPS screen
The 10.25 inch 1920×720 HD display uses Grade-A G+G touch glass. The IPS panel keeps colours consistent from the passenger seat as well as the driver's.
Octa-core performance
A true octa-core A55 processor with 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage runs an optimised Android system. The CD player and radio stay in place, and you swipe the screen to use Android.
Built-in 4G LTE
The 4G LTE module supports European and Asian networks, and a 4G antenna is included. With a data SIM, navigation and streaming work without your phone.
A SIM card in the head unit gives it its own internet connection for maps, traffic and streaming, so it doesn't need your phone's hotspot. You supply the SIM and the data plan; a data-only SIM is usually the cheapest way to do it.
Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi connects the unit to a hotspot or your home network for downloads and updates.
Screen mirroring
Screen mirroring puts your phone's display on the car screen, useful for sharing something from an app outside CarPlay and Android Auto while parked.
Mirroring shows your phone's whole screen on the car screen, unlike CarPlay and Android Auto, which show apps designed for driving. It usually needs a companion app on the phone, and paid video streaming apps often block it.
DAB with an adapter
DAB radio is supported with an external DAB adapter, which is sold separately.
Digital radio gives clearer sound and more stations than FM where there's DAB coverage. It needs a DAB aerial: a stick-on windscreen aerial is the usual choice, or a splitter if your car already has a combined FM and DAB aerial.
USB
A USB cable is included for wired Android Auto or media from a USB stick.
Microphone
The unit supports a microphone for hands-free calls and voice commands.

Fitting the screen may mean cutting a permanent hole in the dashboard. If there's a storage box on top of the dash, removing it gives the space instead and no cutting is needed. A template sticker is provided to help mark the hole accurately.
My 1 Series already has a screen. Which unit do I need?
For a car with the CCC system, choose the XTRONS QDB1087CC. For CIC, choose the QDB1087CI.
Will I have to cut the dashboard?
Possibly. Fitting may need a permanent hole unless there's a storage box on top that can be removed instead.
Is it for right-hand drive cars?
This version is for left-hand drive cars without an original display. Check your car before ordering.
