A 9 inch Android 14 head unit for the Audi TT MK2 8J (2006-2012). It brings wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, built-in 4G and an AKM DSP to the TT, and keeps the BOSE audio system and steering wheel controls through CANbus.
This unit is a custom fit for the Audi TT MK2 8J from 2006-2012, with a 240/228x140mm face panel. Check the year, dimensions and console shape of your car before ordering.
The CANbus box keeps factory features including the BOSE audio system, ACC and door reminders, and an amplifier box for the BOSE system is included. The unit doesn't play discs.
Your iPhone connects to CarPlay without a cable, so maps, music and calls come up on the 9 inch screen while the phone stays in your pocket. Siri handles requests by voice.
Your iPhone connects on its own when you start the car, so there's no cable to plug in. It needs an iPhone with wireless CarPlay support; check yours in Settings > General > CarPlay. A cable still works when you'd rather charge on the way.
Android phones connect wirelessly as well. Google Maps and music apps appear in a layout made for driving, and Google Assistant takes care of messages and directions.
Maps, calls, messages and music from your Android phone appear on the car screen, with Google Assistant for voice control. It needs a phone with Google services, which most Android phones have. To connect without a cable, the phone must support wireless Android Auto too.
The 9 inch QLED screen runs at 1280×720 with vivid colours and an anti-glare finish, so it stays readable in bright sunshine.
The IPS panel sits behind G+G tempered glass. The picture holds up from the passenger seat, and the touch response is quick.
The AKM 7604 DSP has 36-band equalisation, so you can tune the sound closely to the TT's cabin and speakers.
The sound processor lets you tune the sound to your car: an equaliser, a delay for each speaker so the sound centres on your seat, and crossovers that keep deep bass away from small speakers. Start from a preset and change one setting at a time.
A TDA7851 amplifier (4x 48W output) powers the speakers directly for clean, strong sound.
The built-in amplifier drives your car's speakers directly, which is all most cars need. If your car has a factory amplifier, as many premium sound systems do, it usually stays in use and may need an adapter, so check before ordering.
Fibre-optic, coaxial and RCA outputs let you add an external amplifier or processor later. An RCA cable is in the box.
RCA pre-outputs send a clean, low-level signal to an external amplifier or subwoofer. Count the channels you need (front, rear and sub) against the outputs in the specifications. You'll also need RCA leads and power wiring for the amplifier.
Insert a standard Micro-SIM and the unit has its own 4G LTE connection for real-time traffic, weather and streaming, with no need to tether your phone. A 4G antenna is supplied.
A SIM card in the head unit gives it its own internet connection for maps, traffic and streaming, so it doesn't need your phone's hotspot. You supply the SIM and the data plan; a data-only SIM is usually the cheapest way to do it.
Dual-band 2.4G/5G Wi-Fi carries the wireless CarPlay and Android Auto connection and lets the unit join a hotspot for app downloads and updates.
Two Bluetooth modules run side by side. Qualcomm aptX HD streams music at higher quality, and Unisoc's low-latency 5.2 module connects an OBD-II scanner or a dash cam.
An external DAB tuner is supported for digital radio and is sold separately.
Digital radio gives clearer sound and more stations than FM where there's DAB coverage. It needs a DAB aerial: a stick-on windscreen aerial is the usual choice, or a splitter if your car already has a combined FM and DAB aerial.
Screen mirroring shows your phone's display on the head unit for apps that don't run in CarPlay or Android Auto. It's best used when parked.
Mirroring shows your phone's whole screen on the car screen, unlike CarPlay and Android Auto, which show apps designed for driving. It usually needs a companion app on the phone, and paid video streaming apps often block it.
The steering wheel buttons for volume, track and calls keep working through the CANbus integration, so you can keep your hands on the wheel. A camera cable is in the box for adding a reversing camera.
Your steering wheel buttons keep working with the new unit, either through a CAN bus decoder or by teaching the unit each button. Check which your car needs before ordering. A few buttons may do nothing if the unit has no matching function.
The Unisoc 7865 Octa-Core chipset (2x A75 @ 2.2GHz + 6x A55 @ 1.8GHz) runs Android 14 with 8GB RAM and 128GB UFS 2.2 storage. Navigation and 1080P video run together smoothly, and a built-in gyroscope shows live roll and pitch.

The unit connects with the supplied ISO wiring harness, radio adapter cable and CANbus box, and works with the car's original wiring. If your radio antenna port matches the one XTRONS shows, you'll need the XTRONS ICE/ACS/ISOFZ cable. If the rear speakers have static or no sound after fitting, the AK/INIB/NRCBL cable fixes it, provided the original ISO plug is 40pin.
