The XTRONS QLA23Q3 is a 12.3 inch Android 13 head unit for the Audi Q3, SQ3 and RSQ3 (Typ 8U) with the MMI RMC or MMI 3G+ system. It adds wireless CarPlay, Android Auto and built-in 4G, and it works alongside the car's original system.
Wireless CarPlay links to your iPhone without a cable. Navigation, messages and music fill the wide screen, and the phone stays in a pocket or the cup holder.
It's ready to use each time you start the car, which suits short trips as much as long ones.
Android Auto puts Google Maps, calls and your music apps on the head unit's screen for Android phone users. Everything is controlled from the touchscreen or by voice, so the phone stays out of your hand.
The 12.3 inch IPS screen runs at 1920×720 and is fully laminated, which cuts reflections so it stays readable in sunlight. The ultra-slim design and tailor-made bezel give the Q3 a full-width display in place of the factory one.
IPS panels also look clear from the passenger seat.
The 4G module is integrated, and a 4G antenna is in the box. Insert a SIM card and the unit has its own internet connection for maps, video and apps, with no need to tether your phone.
Wi-Fi lets the unit connect to a hotspot or your home network. It's a convenient way to download apps and updates while parked at home.
The built-in DSP lets you adjust the sound from the unit's settings to suit the Q3's speakers and cabin. Small changes to the equaliser make a noticeable difference on the motorway.
A 12nm octa-core processor (Cortex-A75 X 2 +Cortex-A55 X 6) runs Android 13, with 4GB DDR4 RAM and 64GB of eMMC storage. It handles navigation and music side by side without fuss.
The unit also plays 2K video, for use while parked.
The unit supports an AHD camera. With one fitted, you get a clear view behind the car on the big screen when parking.
DAB radio is supported with an external DAB adapter, which isn't included. Add one if you want digital stations.
Screen mirroring shows your phone's display on the head unit, which is useful for apps outside CarPlay and Android Auto when you're parked.
The USB connection lets you play music and video from a USB stick or connect a phone by cable.
The unit supports a microphone for hands-free calls and voice control through CarPlay and Android Auto.
