Keep the factory amplifier
On these Porsches the factory amplifier is connected over a fibre optic network rather than ordinary speaker wires. Take out the original PCM 4.0 unit and that network loses its controller, so the speakers go quiet.
This decoder box sits between the aftermarket stereo and the car, keeping the amplifier and fibre optic network running so you still hear sound through all the speakers.
