The XTRONS IDP10LSMA is a 10.1 inch Android head unit for the Mitsubishi Lancer, Lancer Evolution and Evolution X (2007-2017) and the Proton Inspira. It brings CarPlay and Android Auto, built-in 4G and GPS, with a 4x45W amplifier and steering wheel control support.
CarPlay connects to your iPhone without a cable, putting maps, music and messages on the 10.1 inch screen. Siri is there for calls and directions.
Your iPhone connects on its own when you start the car, so there's no cable to plug in. It needs an iPhone with wireless CarPlay support; check yours in Settings > General > CarPlay. A cable still works when you'd rather charge on the way.
Full-featured Android Auto shows Google Maps, music and calls on the larger screen, with Google Assistant for voice control.
Maps, calls, messages and music from your Android phone appear on the car screen, with Google Assistant for voice control. It needs a phone with Google services, which most Android phones have. To connect without a cable, the phone must support wireless Android Auto too.
The 10.1 inch IPS display runs at 1280×720 with a Grade-A G+G touch screen that responds well and stays clear from the passenger seat.
The 4G LTE module gives the unit its own internet connection for navigation, music streaming and online apps. A 4G antenna and SIM card slot cable are in the box.
A SIM card in the head unit gives it its own internet connection for maps, traffic and streaming, so it doesn't need your phone's hotspot. You supply the SIM and the data plan; a data-only SIM is usually the cheapest way to do it.
Wi-Fi connects the unit to a home network or hotspot.
The steering wheel buttons control the volume, change channels and skip songs, so your hands stay on the wheel.
Your steering wheel buttons keep working with the new unit, either through a CAN bus decoder or by teaching the unit each button. Check which your car needs before ordering. A few buttons may do nothing if the unit has no matching function.
The EQ system gives detailed control over the sound, so you can balance it to the Lancer's speakers.
The sound processor lets you tune the sound to your car: an equaliser, a delay for each speaker so the sound centres on your seat, and crossovers that keep deep bass away from small speakers. Start from a preset and change one setting at a time.
The 4x45W TCB001HQ amplifier keeps the output steady at different volume levels.
The built-in amplifier drives your car's speakers directly, which is all most cars need. If your car has a factory amplifier, as many premium sound systems do, it usually stays in use and may need an adapter, so check before ordering.
Screen mirroring shows your phone's display on the head unit for apps outside CarPlay and Android Auto.
Mirroring shows your phone's whole screen on the car screen, unlike CarPlay and Android Auto, which show apps designed for driving. It usually needs a companion app on the phone, and paid video streaming apps often block it.
Two USB cables and an original USB cable are included for phones and USB devices.
Microphone support lets you take hands-free calls and use voice assistants without picking up the phone.
A camera cable is in the box for connecting a reversing camera. On a 2014-2017 Lancer with the Rockford system and an original reversing camera, an extra harness is needed (see fitting notes).
Connect a reversing camera and its picture appears on the screen when you select reverse. Automatic switching needs the reverse signal wired in. If your car already has a factory camera, check whether you need an adapter to keep it.
DAB digital radio works when an external DAB tuner is connected.
Digital radio gives clearer sound and more stations than FM where there's DAB coverage. It needs a DAB aerial: a stick-on windscreen aerial is the usual choice, or a splitter if your car already has a combined FM and DAB aerial.

The unit fits with the ISO wiring harness and CANbus cable in the box, and the face panel measures 400(top)x370(bottom)x182mm. Check the year, dimensions and shape of your centre console before ordering. A 2007-2014 Lancer with the Rockford amplifier system needs the XTRONS AK/PST10LSM/RF01 harness, and a 2014-2017 Lancer with Rockford and an original reversing camera needs the AK/PST10LSM/RF02.
