The XTRONS IMHP94M245 is a 9 inch Android 14 head unit for the Mercedes-Benz A-Class W169, B-Class W245, Viano and Vito W639 and Sprinter W906, and the Volkswagen Crafter. It adds wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, global 4G and an AKM DSP with a 36-band equaliser.
CarPlay connects to your iPhone over Wi-Fi, so maps, messages and music are on the 9 inch screen without plugging in. Voice control handles routes and replies while you keep your eyes on the road.
Your iPhone connects on its own when you start the car, so there's no cable to plug in. It needs an iPhone with wireless CarPlay support; check yours in Settings > General > CarPlay. A cable still works when you'd rather charge on the way.
Android Auto connects wirelessly as well, bringing Google Maps, music apps and calls to the dashboard.
Maps, calls, messages and music from your Android phone appear on the car screen, with Google Assistant for voice control. It needs a phone with Google services, which most Android phones have. To connect without a cable, the phone must support wireless Android Auto too.
The 9 inch QLED screen runs at 1280×720 with anti-glare clarity in direct sun. It plays 1080P video when you're parked up.
IPS keeps colours steady from wide angles, which suits a van cab where the passenger sits well off to the side. G+G tempered glass gives a solid touch surface.
The AKM 7604 DSP with 36-band equalisation lets you tune the sound to the cabin, which helps a lot in a large van or MPV.
The sound processor lets you tune the sound to your car: an equaliser, a delay for each speaker so the sound centres on your seat, and crossovers that keep deep bass away from small speakers. Start from a preset and change one setting at a time.
A TDA7851 amplifier with 4x 48W output drives the speakers directly.
The built-in amplifier drives your car's speakers directly, which is all most cars need. If your car has a factory amplifier, as many premium sound systems do, it usually stays in use and may need an adapter, so check before ordering.
Optical, coaxial and RCA outputs connect an external amplifier or processor if you want more power later. An RCA cable is in the box.
RCA pre-outputs send a clean, low-level signal to an external amplifier or subwoofer. Count the channels you need (front, rear and sub) against the outputs in the specifications. You'll also need RCA leads and power wiring for the amplifier.
Insert a standard Micro-SIM and the unit has its own 4G connection for real-time traffic, weather and streaming, without tethering a phone. A 4G antenna is included.
A SIM card in the head unit gives it its own internet connection for maps, traffic and streaming, so it doesn't need your phone's hotspot. You supply the SIM and the data plan; a data-only SIM is usually the cheapest way to do it.
Wi-Fi works on 2.4G and 5G bands, and carries the wireless CarPlay and Android Auto connection.
One Bluetooth module (Qualcomm) streams audio with aptX HD. The second, a Unisoc 5.2 module, connects an OBD-II scanner or a dash cam at the same time.
Screen mirroring shows your phone on the head unit, for apps that aren't in CarPlay or Android Auto.
Mirroring shows your phone's whole screen on the car screen, unlike CarPlay and Android Auto, which show apps designed for driving. It usually needs a companion app on the phone, and paid video streaming apps often block it.
The CANbus integration keeps factory features such as door reminders, and a steering wheel control adapter keeps the wheel buttons working. On the Volkswagen Crafter, CANbus decoding isn't supported.
Your steering wheel buttons keep working with the new unit, either through a CAN bus decoder or by teaching the unit each button. Check which your car needs before ordering. A few buttons may do nothing if the unit has no matching function.
A camera cable is in the box for adding a reversing camera. If your vehicle has the original reversing camera, you'll need the XTRONS ICE/ACS/FZMRM01 adapter to keep it working.
Connect a reversing camera and its picture appears on the screen when you select reverse. Automatic switching needs the reverse signal wired in. If your car already has a factory camera, check whether you need an adapter to keep it.
DAB digital radio works when an external DAB tuner is connected to the unit.
Digital radio gives clearer sound and more stations than FM where there's DAB coverage. It needs a DAB aerial: a stick-on windscreen aerial is the usual choice, or a splitter if your car already has a combined FM and DAB aerial.

The unit fits with the ISO wiring harnesses, CANbus box and radio adapters in the box; check the year, dimensions and shape of your centre console against the product photos before ordering. On a Volkswagen Crafter, don't use the included CANbus box. If the CANbus box doesn't work with your car, try the male connector with each of the two female connectors in turn. After fitting, the CD changer and the original motorised compartment won't work, and air conditioning information isn't shown.
No. If your car has the COMAND system, this unit isn't compatible.
No. The unit doesn't decode the Crafter's CANbus signal, so don't connect the included CANbus box on a Crafter.
