A plug-and-play fibre optic decoder box for cars with the factory COMAND APS NTG 2 or NTG 2.5 system, such as the Mercedes-Benz ML, GL and R Series (2005-2011). Fitted with an aftermarket head unit, it lets the car's MOST bus sound system keep working.

Keeps the factory fibre optic audio working
Cars with the factory COMAND APS NTG 2 or NTG 2.5 system send audio over a MOST fibre optic bus. Replace the head unit and the sound system needs a decoder to understand the new signal. This plug-and-play box does that job.
It can't decode the D2B optical bus system used by COMAND 2.0 and COMAND 2.5. Check your car's plug port to confirm which system you have before ordering.
When fitting, keep the fibre optic loop unbroken and leave original parts such as CD changers, satellite radio and phone modules connected. A bypass loop like the XTRONS ICE/ACS/FEXL009 is recommended if needed.
Connecting the head unit
The decoder takes stereo input only, from the head unit's Front Left and Right RCA outputs. Set the fader to the middle in your head unit's balance menu.
After installation, remove the sound system fuse for 15 minutes and then put it back to reset the system.

- Please note that this optical fiber decoder box can NOT decode the D2B Optical Bus System (COMAND 2.0 & COMAND 2.5)
The box is plug-and-play. Keep the fibre optic loop unbroken and original modules connected, feed it from the head unit's front left and right RCA outputs with the fader centred, then remove the sound system fuse for 15 minutes and refit it to reset the system.
Does it work with COMAND 2.0?
No. It can't decode the D2B optical bus system used by COMAND 2.0 and COMAND 2.5. It's for COMAND APS NTG 2 and NTG 2.5.
Which outputs does it use from my head unit?
Stereo input from the Front Left and Right RCA outputs only. Set the fader to the middle.
There's no sound after fitting. What should I try?
Remove the sound system fuse for 15 minutes, then put it back to reset the system. Also check the fibre optic loop is unbroken.
