The XTRONS PXP94M211GDAB is a 9 inch Android 14 head unit made to fit the Mercedes-Benz E-Class W211 and CLS W219. It has built-in DAB+ radio, wireless CarPlay, Android Auto and 4G, plus an AKM DSP for tuning the sound.
DAB+ is built into the unit, so you can listen to digital stations without adding a separate tuner. The DAB chip uses noise cancelling and signal optimisation to keep reception clear.
An SI4755 radio with RDS covers FM as well.
Digital radio gives clearer sound and more stations than FM where there's DAB coverage. It needs a DAB aerial: a stick-on windscreen aerial is the usual choice, or a splitter if your car already has a combined FM and DAB aerial.
CarPlay connects without a cable, putting maps, messages and music on the 9 inch screen and letting you use voice commands. It supports iPhone 5 and later models with iOS 8 and above.
Your iPhone connects on its own when you start the car, so there's no cable to plug in. It needs an iPhone with wireless CarPlay support; check yours in Settings > General > CarPlay. A cable still works when you'd rather charge on the way.
Full-featured Android Auto puts navigation, calls and music from your Android phone on the screen, controlled by touch or voice. It supports Android phones with Android 4.3 and above.
Maps, calls, messages and music from your Android phone appear on the car screen, with Google Assistant for voice control. It needs a phone with Google services, which most Android phones have. To connect without a cable, the phone must support wireless Android Auto too.
The automotive-grade AKM DSP chip lets you shape the sound with customisable modes and EQ settings. You can set it up for the music you listen to most, whether that's bass-heavy or acoustic.
The sound processor lets you tune the sound to your car: an equaliser, a delay for each speaker so the sound centres on your seat, and crossovers that keep deep bass away from small speakers. Start from a preset and change one setting at a time.
The 9 inch 1280×720 capacitive touch screen uses G+G glass and IPS technology. Colours don't shift when viewed from an angle, so the passenger sees the same picture as the driver.
A 12nm octa-core 2.2GHz processor runs Android 14 with 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage. It's tested to run from −30°C to +80°C and plays 2K video.
A TDA7388 amplifier drives the car's speakers.
Insert a Micro-SIM card and the unit has its own 4G connection for maps and streaming. A 4G antenna and a SIM card slot cable are included.
A SIM card in the head unit gives it its own internet connection for maps, traffic and streaming, so it doesn't need your phone's hotspot. You supply the SIM and the data plan; a data-only SIM is usually the cheapest way to do it.
A separate Wi-Fi antenna comes in the box, helping the unit hold a steady connection to a hotspot or your home network.
A microphone is included. Mounted near the driver, it picks up your voice for hands-free calls and voice commands.
Screen mirroring shows your phone's display on the head unit, useful for apps outside CarPlay and Android Auto while parked.
Mirroring shows your phone's whole screen on the car screen, unlike CarPlay and Android Auto, which show apps designed for driving. It usually needs a companion app on the phone, and paid video streaming apps often block it.
Two USB cables are included. USB tethering lets the unit use your phone's mobile data over a cable, and the unit also supports AHD cameras through the included camera cable.

The unit comes with a CANbus box, two ISO wiring harnesses and radio adapter cables. Some cars need more: an E-Class or CLS with COMAND APS NTG 1 needs the XTRONS FOBB01 optical decoder, NTG 2 and 2.5 cars need the FOBB03 and AK24540P, and cars from 2008 or later with the pictured connector need the AK24540P power cable. If your car has a 40-pin connector, check the pin alignment before fitting.
The centre console must be trapezoidal with a trim strip above. Without the trim strip, look at the XTRONS IAP92M209S. If there's a screen above the centre console, you need the QLM2240M12ER for right-hand drive or QLM2240M12EL for left-hand drive.
Yes, DAB+ is built in, so no external tuner is needed.
The CD changer, the air conditioning information and the original motorised compartment won't work with this unit.
Yes. NTG 1 cars need the XTRONS FOBB01 optical decoder box, and NTG 2 and 2.5 cars need the FOBB03 and AK24540P. These aren't included.
