The XTRONS IMHP24CRHN is a 12.3 inch Android 15 head unit made for the Honda CR-V (2017-2022). It brings wireless CarPlay, Android Auto, built-in 4G and a 2400×900 QLED IPS screen, and keeps the car's steering wheel controls working.
CarPlay connects to your iPhone wirelessly, so maps, calls and music appear on the 12.3 inch screen without plugging anything in.
The phone can stay in your pocket, and CarPlay is ready each time you start the car.
Your iPhone connects on its own when you start the car, so there's no cable to plug in. It needs an iPhone with wireless CarPlay support; check yours in Settings > General > CarPlay. A cable still works when you'd rather charge on the way.
Android Auto works wirelessly or by USB cable, whichever suits you. Navigation and music are controlled from the touchscreen, and two USB cables are included for wired use.
Maps, calls, messages and music from your Android phone appear on the car screen, with Google Assistant for voice control. It needs a phone with Google services, which most Android phones have. To connect without a cable, the phone must support wireless Android Auto too.
The 12.3 inch QLED screen runs at 2400x900p, so maps, album art and menus look sharp and colourful across its width.
Hidden touch buttons light up in a colour of your choice, and the launcher has day and night themes.
It's also an IPS panel, so the picture stays clear when viewed from the passenger seat. That matters on a wide screen that both front seats can reach.
The AKM 7604 digital sound processor has a 36-band equaliser, which gives very fine control over the sound in the CR-V's cabin.
You can lift or cut narrow parts of the range to suit your speakers, rather than just bass and treble.
The sound processor lets you tune the sound to your car: an equaliser, a delay for each speaker so the sound centres on your seat, and crossovers that keep deep bass away from small speakers. Start from a preset and change one setting at a time.
An ST TDA7851 amplifier chip is built in, with a max 4×48W output power. It drives the car's speakers directly without an extra amp.
The built-in amplifier drives your car's speakers directly, which is all most cars need. If your car has a factory amplifier, as many premium sound systems do, it usually stays in use and may need an adapter, so check before ordering.
Fiber-optic, coaxial and RCA audio outputs are all there. They give you several ways to connect an external amplifier or processor later, and an RCA cable is in the box.
RCA pre-outputs send a clean, low-level signal to an external amplifier or subwoofer. Count the channels you need (front, rear and sub) against the outputs in the specifications. You'll also need RCA leads and power wiring for the amplifier.
There are two Bluetooth modules, so you can connect two devices at once. Qualcomm Bluetooth with aptX HD handles calls and music in high quality.
The second module, Unisoc Bluetooth 5.2, has lower latency for third-party devices such as an OBD scanner.
The unit has an integrated 4G solution and a 4G antenna. With a data SIM it has its own connection for maps, streaming and online radio stations, without tethering a phone.
A SIM card in the head unit gives it its own internet connection for maps, traffic and streaming, so it doesn't need your phone's hotspot. You supply the SIM and the data plan; a data-only SIM is usually the cheapest way to do it.
Dual-band Wi-Fi gives a faster connection for downloads and updates, for example from your home network or a phone hotspot.
The CR-V's steering wheel controls keep working, so you can change the volume, skip tracks and take calls without letting go of the wheel.
Your steering wheel buttons keep working with the new unit, either through a CAN bus decoder or by teaching the unit each button. Check which your car needs before ordering. A few buttons may do nothing if the unit has no matching function.
AM/FM radio with RDS is built in. DAB is supported with an external DAB adapter, sold separately.
Digital radio gives clearer sound and more stations than FM where there's DAB coverage. It needs a DAB aerial: a stick-on windscreen aerial is the usual choice, or a splitter if your car already has a combined FM and DAB aerial.
Screen mirroring shows your phone's display on the head unit. It's handy for apps that aren't in CarPlay or Android Auto, best used while parked.
Mirroring shows your phone's whole screen on the car screen, unlike CarPlay and Android Auto, which show apps designed for driving. It usually needs a companion app on the phone, and paid video streaming apps often block it.
A Unisoc 7865 octa-core processor (2x Cortex A75 @2.2GHz + 6x A55 @1.8GHz) runs Android 15, with 8GB RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage. It starts quickly and switches between apps smoothly.
The aluminium housing and smart fan control keep it cool, and PiP mode lets you keep a small window open over another app.
Front and rear cameras are supported, and a camera cable is included. You can add optional accessories later, including a camera, DAB, DVR, OBD, TPMS, keyboard or microphone.
