A 7 inch Android 15 head unit made to fit the Fiat 500 (2007-2015). It brings wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, built-in 4G and a QLED touch screen to the dashboard, with a DSP and extra audio outputs if you want to improve the sound later.
Once paired, your iPhone connects without a cable and CarPlay appears on the 7 inch screen. Maps, calls, messages and music are all there, and the phone can stay in your bag.
If you'd rather charge as you go, plug in with USB and CarPlay runs wired instead.
Your iPhone connects on its own when you start the car, so there's no cable to plug in. It needs an iPhone with wireless CarPlay support; check yours in Settings > General > CarPlay. A cable still works when you'd rather charge on the way.
Android phones connect to Android Auto wirelessly or over USB. Google Maps, music apps and messages come up on the touch screen, and Google Assistant can take care of calls and directions by voice.
Maps, calls, messages and music from your Android phone appear on the car screen, with Google Assistant for voice control. It needs a phone with Google services, which most Android phones have. To connect without a cable, the phone must support wireless Android Auto too.
The 7 inch Grade-A IPS QLED screen runs at 1280×720. Colours are rich, which helps maps and album art stand out in the small Fiat 500 dashboard.
The IPS panel keeps the picture clear from the side as well as straight on, so the passenger can follow the map too.
The built-in DSP DQ7603 lets you adjust the sound to suit the Fiat's speakers and cabin, so music is balanced around the driver's seat rather than the nearest door.
The sound processor lets you tune the sound to your car: an equaliser, a delay for each speaker so the sound centres on your seat, and crossovers that keep deep bass away from small speakers. Start from a preset and change one setting at a time.
An STMicroelectronics TCB001HQ amplifier rated at 4x45W powers the speakers directly, so a standard speaker set doesn't need a separate amplifier.
The built-in amplifier drives your car's speakers directly, which is all most cars need. If your car has a factory amplifier, as many premium sound systems do, it usually stays in use and may need an adapter, so check before ordering.
RCA outputs, plus optical and coaxial audio outputs, are there for adding an external amplifier or sound processor. An RCA cable is included.
RCA pre-outputs send a clean, low-level signal to an external amplifier or subwoofer. Count the channels you need (front, rear and sub) against the outputs in the specifications. You'll also need RCA leads and power wiring for the amplifier.
A 4G LTE modem is built in. Put in a standard nano SIM card and the unit has its own data connection for live traffic, streaming and apps. A 4G antenna and a SIM ejector tool are in the box.
A SIM card in the head unit gives it its own internet connection for maps, traffic and streaming, so it doesn't need your phone's hotspot. You supply the SIM and the data plan; a data-only SIM is usually the cheapest way to do it.
Dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz & 5GHz) connects to a phone hotspot or your home network for downloads and updates.
Bluetooth 5.4 handles hands-free calls and music streaming. The supplied microphone can be placed near the driver for clearer calls.
Screen mirroring puts your phone's display on the head unit, useful for apps that don't run in CarPlay or Android Auto.
Mirroring shows your phone's whole screen on the car screen, unlike CarPlay and Android Auto, which show apps designed for driving. It usually needs a companion app on the phone, and paid video streaming apps often block it.
It supports 720P/1080P AHD cameras and shows the camera picture as soon as you select reverse. The camera connection is part of the wiring harness and a camera cable is included; the camera itself is sold separately.
Connect a reversing camera and its picture appears on the screen when you select reverse. Automatic switching needs the reverse signal wired in. If your car already has a factory camera, check whether you need an adapter to keep it.
The radio has an RDS-FM/AM tuner and is DAB+ ready. For digital stations you'll need to add an external DAB tuner.
Digital radio gives clearer sound and more stations than FM where there's DAB coverage. It needs a DAB aerial: a stick-on windscreen aerial is the usual choice, or a splitter if your car already has a combined FM and DAB aerial.
