An optical fibre decoder box for BMW E39, E46, E53, E90, E91, E92 and E93 models with Logic 7 or a fibre optic radio connection. It lets an aftermarket head unit send sound to the factory system when the radio plug has no speaker wires.

  • For BMW E39, E46, E53, E90, E91, E92 and E93
  • Needed for Logic 7 or radio plugs with fibre optic input and no 8 speaker wires
  • Takes stereo input from the head unit's front left and right RCA outputs

Do you need it

Look at the plug behind your factory radio. If your car has Logic 7, or the plug has a fibre optic input without 8 speaker wires, you need this decoder box to fit an aftermarket head unit. If the plug already has 8 speaker wires, you don't need it.

Connecting it

The box takes a stereo signal from the head unit's front left and right RCA outputs only, so set the fader to the middle in your new radio's balance menu.

The fibre optic loop must stay unbroken. Keep original parts such as CD changers, satellite radio and phone modules connected, or use a bypass loop; XTRONS ICE/ACS/FEXL009 or ICE/ACS/fiberloop is recommended. After fitting, take out the sound system fuse for 15 minutes and put it back to reset the system.
