When the original head unit comes out, the opening it leaves isn't a standard size. This fascia panel fills it and gives you a double DIN aperture, which suits most aftermarket head units, while the dashboard keeps its factory appearance.
It fills any gaps around the new unit so it looks properly fitted. Check your 3 Series is from the E90/91/E92/E93 range, 2004-2012, before ordering.
