XTRONS HM140A is a 14 inch Android 13 touch screen that mounts on the back of a front headrest for rear-seat passengers. It has its own 4G connection for streaming, HD and RCA video inputs, and plays sound through a built-in speaker, the car stereo or Bluetooth headphones.
The 14 inch G+G capacitive touch screen runs at 1920×1200, so films and games look sharp from the back seat. Passengers tap and swipe through apps as they would on a tablet.
Android 13 runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 processor with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, leaving space for apps, games and downloaded films.
With a SIM card and data plan, the screen streams films, browses the web and runs apps on its own connection, so nobody needs to share a phone hotspot. The 4G modem supports carriers in Asia and Europe.
A SIM card in the head unit gives it its own internet connection for maps, traffic and streaming, so it doesn't need your phone's hotspot. You supply the SIM and the data plan; a data-only SIM is usually the cheapest way to do it.
Wi-Fi lets the screen join a phone hotspot or home network, which is useful for downloading films before a long trip.
An HD video input and an RCA video input take a games console, media player or other AV source. The cables for these devices aren't included, so have the right leads ready.
Passengers can cast from an Android or iOS phone to the screen wirelessly, so a video started on a phone can be watched on the bigger display.
Mirroring shows your phone's whole screen on the car screen, unlike CarPlay and Android Auto, which show apps designed for driving. It usually needs a companion app on the phone, and paid video streaming apps often block it.
Plug in a USB stick to play films and music stored on it. A USB cable adapter comes in the box.
Sound can come from the built-in speaker, or go through the FM transmitter to the car stereo so everyone hears it. For quiet in the front, pair Bluetooth headphones and the passenger listens privately.
